UEFA have ordered Serbia U21 to play their next game behind closed doors and Serbian FA has been fined £65k. Well done UEFA - once again you've completely bottled it. They should have received an international ban. What a disgrace. Platini is just as much of an idiot as Blatter. What on earth is that "punishment" designed to achieve? It's no more than a slap on the wrist.

Oh, and Caulker and Ince have received 2 and 1 match international bans respectively.

Serbia under-21 fitness coach Andreja Milunović is suspended from all football-related activities for two years, the second of which is suspended for a probationary period of three years.

Serbia under 21 assistant coach Predrag Katić is also suspended from all football-related activities for two years, the final six months of which are suspended for a probationary period of three years.

They've been punished. I'll settle for that as I thought EUFA would say that England and Serbia were equally to blame. No comment on the punishment for our two players as I have no idea what they did....I'm not going to assume they are innocent just because they are English.

That's terrible. Isn't that the same amount that Mikel was fined for his false accusations?

What makes me laugh is that UEFA fine a player more for showing a sponsor on his underwear then Serbia, a nation with a history of racist abuse in football.

That isn't a punishment. It's a polite request from UEFA asking for those dreadful scenes not to be repeated.

He was fined for threatening the referee (believe he said he'd break his leg), but not for a false accusation as he only complained about what he was told.

Have to say that in my eyes the punishment is very lenient. The coaches should be banned from sport for life. Still what did we expect..... probably...... not even the punishment they did get.

What did the coaches do exactly? They weren't exactly responsible for the racist chanting were they?

The punishment for the chanting sure looks lenient, I guess it would be a big deal for a senior side to have to play a match behind closed doors but not so much for the u21s.

I don't know if £65k is a lot for the Serbian FA, perhaps they're not as wealthy as Nicklas Bendtner so maybe it is punitive! To be fair though, they're not really responsible for the conduct of these fans either so what can you do? If it happens again the fine should be more severe but if they are trying to sort it out then any fine could be deemed harsh.

Basically what I'm trying to say is I don't know anywhere near enough about the circumstances to judge this <laugh>

The coaches must have done something very serious (violence perhaps) to warrant suspending them from their jobs and any job connected with football for 2 yr (even though part suspended)

I think the coaches were involved in a mass brawl. They must have started the massive brawl that happened at the end of the match.

Sorry but how? Seriously threatening to break someone's leg is much worse than a single act of racism surely?

Yes there were some punches thrown (at Steve Wigley I think) which is what they have got big bans for. There is no reference to racial abuse in the UEFA release so it seems they have not considered that (or felt there was not enough evidence). Problem is that UEFA could fine the Serbia FA £65 million if they wanted, but it wouldn't make a difference to those responsible. Big problems in Serbia and elsewhere where the hooligan groups have so much power, can't be fixed by fines.

    Few other things...

Mikel got a three game ban (and was fortunate to do so) for threatening to break Clattenburg's legs, and other things. In Clattenburg's changing room, where he should definitely not be anyway.

Bendtner's fine was generously paid by Paddy Power, with a bit on top, even though apparently they were just his lucky pants and they didn't pay him to do it (ha). No point fining him fifty quid because other players/bookies will see the opportunity for a tidy profit.

It wasn't a single act of racism though, was it? And there was actual violence from a number of people. Also I'd say it was an empty threat.

Agree with that, Mikel said that in the heat of the moment.

And he was provoked (or at least he thought he was). I think the England players in Serbia were probably more worried about violence breaking out than Clattenburg was.

Mikel also should never have been in the ref's room...perhaps Chelsea should have put a steward on the door.
