As some of you may have seen the Udinese v Fiorentina fixture for today has been cancelled. This is an obvious result of the tragic death of the Fiorentina captain, Davide Astori. He died after a very short illness, aged only 31, there are no other details available. I admit to not even knowing his name - but it serves as a reminder that there are things in life which are more important than football - so, RIP Davide. Needless to say the WPL. this week will only have 9 fixtures.

All the more tragic given how closely monitored players are today. The wider athletic world will await a full explanation from the medical establishment with some trepidation.
