I used to kick box as a teenager and never got injured.
The human body if developed by training can withstand punches with little risk of injury.

For example I could take punches and kicks in the stomach as the muscles became strong , now if someone did it I would probably buckle over .

Skateboarding is incredibly dangerous as is BMX ing , just because I can't do a backflip on a bicycle I wouldn't want to ban others that can.

Most amateur boxers wear headguards in fights now so there is little to no risk of damaging the brain .

A good example of Irony is Michael Schumacher winning umpteen F1 titles without injury , he then went skiing crashed into a tree and paralysed himself the poor guy.
I have never suggested banning anything because it is dangerous. If people want to risk their own lives and limbs jumping out of planes, off bikes or off mountains it is up to them. I would ban boxing because it is morally wrong and, by todays standards, unacceptable to have a sport where the SOLE aim is to hit, hurt and injure your opponent. The dangers of duelling were obvious and the participants were willing but in the end it became unacceptable to the majority and was banned. Before that sword fighting was acceptable until the majority decided it wasn't and the sport of fencing was born. As I have said it is a matter of personal choice but I, among many others, feel it is now unacceptable and the time has come to ban it.

If the loser usually ended up dead or brutally injured you may have a point but in almost every situation both fighters walk out of the ring with a few minor cuts and bruises .

Boxing is not morally wrong it's a sport that the participants enjoy and consider it a skilful art .

It is morally wrong to me and to many others but as I have said all along it is a matter of personal opinion.

Thread that has no place on the forum and is a disgrace, brings nearly 50 posts to a struggling forum.

Apologies for my efforts.

Ironically, 1950 and Dave made this such a success. Thanks for the backing guys! This forum could still live!
