It's time for Fury's comeback on Saturday and he's fighting Sefer Seferi. Is he so good they named him twice? No, he's a pretty ****, old and immobile cruiserweight, actually. Decent record of 23-1, but his only notable opponent was Manuel Charr and he lost badly. Does anyone care about this fight and is there anything on the undercard worth watching? Tyson Fury vs Sefer Seferi undercard Terry Flanagan vs Maurice Hooker (vacant WBO super-lightweight world title) Mark Heffron vs Andrew Robinson (12-round middleweight contest) James Metcalf vs Aitor Nieto (12-round super-welterweight contest) Nathan Gorman vs Sean Turner (10-round heavyweight contest) Troy Williamson vs Jack Flatley (eight-round middleweight contest) Jack Massey vs Ian Tims (eight-round cruiserweight contest) Zelfa Barrett vs TBA Sam Maxwell vs Kane Baker (six-round super-lightweight contest) Lyndon Arthur vs Charles Adamu (six-round light-heavyweight contest) Jordan Thompson vs TBA (six-round cruiserweight contest) Jack McGann vs Dwain Grant (six-round super-welterweight contest) Alex Dickinson vs David Howe (four-round heavyweight contest) Zac Burton vs Dominik Landgraf (four-round light-heavyweight contest)
Is it PPV? If so, not interested, if it’s on normal Sky I’ll watch it and the undercard. Never heard of his opponent and he’s bound to be a yard dog given it’s his first fight back.
Tyson Fury had all the attributes required to write his name in the history books as a truly great heavyweight. Unfortunately, all the gifts he was born with appear to have been matched by an equally exceptional handicap; one that resides entirely in his head. It's not that he lacks mental strength - he clearly has self disciple, for example, when he chooses to apply it. It's just that he is proper mental, like he seems to have a borderline psychosis. In terms of physique, technique, lateral movement, mobility, power, he's the most naturally gifted British heavyweight since Joe Bugner. Indeed, he could have been the best British boxer at any weight since John Conteh . Fury could have been one of the best in the history of the sport, up there with Ali and - before his own spectacular psychic collapse - Iron Mike. But he probably won't, it's already too late. I'm fascinated to see what happens next with him though.
I'll be interested to watch how he gets on but can't see this fight being very interesting or telling us much.
Fury is way beyond AJ's skill set, I hope Hearn and Warren make that fight happen, I'll piss myself when AJ's lights go out. This fight will be ****e though, although I'll be smashed so it's fine.
AJ would run rings round the pikey if it ever happened. Maybe before he hit the beak and the burgers Fury could have given him a fight, but not now he’s got proper tits.
Fury's clearly the better boxer, but he's unstable and Joshua's got a power advantage. His movement's terrible, though. Far too static and straight on. I think it would be down to how well Fury trains and if he can stay on track.
Physique is far from the first thing I'd be concerned about when getting into a ring, especially in this day and age. AJ is much improved from when he first jumped on the scene but I don't see him having a chance, just my opinion.
If Fury gets back to his previous level then I think he beats Joshua relatively comfortably. It's a big ask to get back to that level though and one I can't see happening personally.
I don't think we'll find it out in one sense mate as I can't see Fury getting backto that level so wpild agree that AJ would spark him. It will be interesting to see how he gets on though and it could set it up nicely for a fight next Summer.
Who’d provide the biggest risk to AJ, Wilder or Fury? That might solve the connundrum as to whether the fight happens or not.
I don't see why he can't he's still young enough, he's not some washed up bum like Haye turned into. The travellers are a different breed as well, it's not just training in some air conditioned gym where they learn their skills, they've had them all their lives since they were old enough to stand up!
AJ is picking Wilder because it's just two grippers trying to land a big punch... is that even boxing? Sounds more like a school fight.
