HE'S GONE!!! Peterborough on loan (with a view to a permanent deal). IMO this leaves Crawley short-staffed up front in terms of quality strikers after losing Thomas (Bournemouth), Tubbs (Bournemouth) and now Barnett (Bourne... no, Peterborough). In other news, Bournemouth are looking at an attempt to sign Robin van Persie.
They've brought in Shaun Batt from Millwall to replace Barnett. Silly, silly price - £1m+ in the summer. He's 26 and, though decent enough, I can't see the justification for paying that much for a middle aged (in football terms) lower league striker. Good business from Crawley at that price. No wonder UEFA don't like our "emergency" loan system when it's used like this. Makes a nonsense of the transfer window, whether you like it or not.
Oh Indeed. Coupled with the £800k they got for Tubbs, they must be positively loaded (on top of their ridiculous income already!). I agree with Arséne Wenger on this one - I think transfer windows should just stay open 24/7.
Is this you Shrewdchemic? http://blueandamber.proboards.com/index.cgi?action=viewprofile&user=venceremos
Yes. Pacy player. I believe he was on loan with Leeds in the Championship last season. I see Wycombe have signed their very own Arsenal reject as well!
http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/17118577 I remember them saying a while back that they will need to sell players. Perhaps they are cheating the system by having players on good wages for 2/3 of the seaon and the loaning them out to a higher club??
Inventive! I'm not, probably will be soon though. If I do sign up, I'll probably be called Lenny or something else inspirational. I did try to log in as "Lennie" when I was away, I never normally log out so it took me a while to realise why my account was one attempt away from being blocked! I suppose it wouldn't have blocked my account though, since I didn't get my screen name right!
I put a link on B&A to the swindon thread quote by RedJed and it was amazing to see how many guests were looking at the thread (shown at the botom of the page). So we might get some more traffic coming this way to post?
Creepies have made a hatful, but how much of it will go back into transfers? The chairman said that crowds would hvae to improve to maintain the inflated wage bill, otherwise players will be sold. And look at them now! A free loan signing to cover £2m. Makes you wonder.. They'll surely still be favourites for the top 3 but could implode in League One..
all it takes is a mistake in buying a player, or a failure to earn money from a sale and it falls down.
