This is a statement of intent from the club - not only have we held onto Woods and Goldson we have added an experienced striker(for a sizeable fee in League 2). Barnett has had a patchy record at higher levels but could be very effective in this league (as he was at Oxford this season). He fits in with MM's liking for experienced players with a physical presence and I cannot wait to see him teamed up with Collins on Saturday.
 
an excellent signing for MM, right under the nose of Oxford. I have no doubt we shall lose the services of Goldson and Woods for next season, but MM may have a £million or 2 to find replacements. there will be more clubs than west ham sniffing round.
 
I was talking to an Oxford fan at work today and his opinion was that Barnett was less than impressive in his loan spell with them (though he did score a few goals near the end of it) and would struggle to get into our first team. I do not think we have paid a sizeable fee for a benchwarmer so I hope my colleague is wrong.
