This afternoon's result is, of course, typical. For all the talk of not taking the opposition lightly, it appeared that that's exactly what we did. From the moment the goal was disallowed I thought 'this is not going to be our day' and playing thirteen men for the entire first half (that's got to be the worst refereeing performance I've seen in a long time) didn't help. HAving said that, we were very poor. We missed Hudson's authority, Taylor was Nayloresque at times and Nugget's distribution shows that his days are numbered. Adding to that: Peter Whittingham's worst performance (at centre back it seems) for a long time — can Nathan Blake stop blithering on about making him captain after that, please —, not playing Mason and an attitude from most that seemed to suggest that all we needed to do was turn up and it's little wonder we lost. P'boro fully deserved their victory and for all our missed chances they missed a few themselves. It could have/ should have been four to them before the end ... at least.
Anyway, things seem to be going our way even when they're not, if you know what I mean. Palace throwing away a two goal lead just goes to show (as we know only too well) that anything can happen in this league. Two massive games coming up.... Leicester away, six pointer v Palace. We win both and we're very much back on track. However, we could easily lose these two, giving fodder to those who love to tag us 'bottlers'. It's going to be a massive Christmas.
