The international transfer window has been open for 19 days now and still no real progress. Gervinho seemed a done deal from the time we were linked with him and although I think he could be a decent signing he's not going to make the impact we need to finally challenge. I'm sick of Wenger/The Clubs reluctance to be positive in the transfer window and make the deals we so desperately need. I understand he might want to see what happens with Cesc and Nasri (plus the fringe players) but that shouldn't stop him signing at least 1 quality centre back!!! Plus with Clichy gone I don't have faith in any of the back up players to fill his position Lets face it, in recent Wenger hasn't been anywhere as consistent in bringing in the talent we need as he had done in his first 6-7 seasons. The quality we have now were all younger players who took time (2+ seasons) to develop (Cesc, Van Persie, Walcott, Szczency, Wilshere, Nasri, Ramsey). Of the established players Arshavin made a huge intial impact but went off the boil, Vermaelen was real quality then sadly missed last season and Sagna had a solid 1st season but hasn't played at the same level since (IMO) We need players that can contribute to the team or at the most take a few months to settle. With our competitors strengthening more now than ever we need to SPEND!!
Gazidis has released a statement today saying that we will spend and that we are working out of the spotlight of the media on deals to bring in new players.
The media really make my blood boil they are saying arsenal have rejected a 27m and a 31m for fabs. Also peter-hill wood stated barca only offered one bid for 27m. Barce shut up, tabliods shut up. Maybe the players should publically state their intentions...
maybe not as wilshere who said he was playing gold with big cahil trying to lure him to the emerites lol
