I think you play in whatever way is appropriate for the team you are playing. We needed to play dirty football to beat Cardiff on Wednesday but played into their hands with our usual game which they stopped us playing with fast closing down and crunch tackling.
None, we should play the Saints way: Press when not in possession, have attacking full-backs, pass out from the back, quick passing in the middle and final third, wingers coming inside to support the forwards, Lambert playing as the target man... ...we have many different styles to our game.
Barcelona style would be good, but attempting it would be a disaster. Same goes for total football (we know that from experience). Let's just call it Nigel-knows-best football. Play to our strengths, primarily a slick passing game, but being able to mix it up when it's appropriate.
dopn't want tiki taka. Barcelona bore me to tears with their continual passing sideways. Much prefer a team that attacks non stop and has loads of chances like we do (an dare I say Man Yoo). Shot Shot Shot is much more entertaining than FC Barcelona's safe pass, safe pass, safe pass. They should be renamed 'Chuckle Bros FC' Puzzled? FC Barcelona style...........to me, to you, to me, to you Southampton FC.....to me, to him, GOAL!!!!!!!!!
