Already this season we have seen some relatively early action by SC to bolster our team for the promotion run-in and from that I have some questions.

    1. Would I be correct to believe that Matt Smith is staying till the end of the season? Jan 17th was the supposed end of his loan period?

    2. Will we bring in another keeper because the happenings at Glanford Park highlight the dangers with shot stoppers?

    3. Do you believe that the new loan signings offer more strength or are they just fill-ins?

    4. Will be do any blockbuster deals prior to the window closing?

    1) Fulham manager has said that he is happy for Matt Smith to stay with us for now
    2) I hope so
    3) I'm hoping that they've been brought in to cover for illness/suspensions/injuries and to keep the regulars on their toes
    4) Sadly I doubt it. We should maybe just buy Andy Williams from Swindon to spike their guns ! Or we hope a higher club comes in for him

    1. January 25th is the end of Matt Smiths loan. So we have him up until the West Ham game and then his future is out of our hands.

    2. We're suppose to be going in for Daniel Bentley this week (Southend goalkeeper) but he is wanted by Forrest, Cardiff, Brentford, Millwall & Sheffield United.

    3. Bit of both

    4. See number 2

1- I thought it runs to 25th too. In which case, something needs sorting one way or the other by next Monday- I am sure SC is aware of that!.

2-We do need a back up or challenge for Fielding at least.

3- Cover more than anything. I have always believed that as a loan signing, you are someone elses player.

4- I very much doubt it. January tends to be expensive compared to the summer

LOAN SIGNINGS with a view to buying is OK,
LOAN SIGNINGS that are young and "top quality" for whole or part of the season are fine ( Caulker etc )
LOAN SIGNINGS to act as prompters for the contract players are not, but a short term cover if desparate like Scuuny have OK
WE SHOULD BE BUILDING A SQUAD OF "OUR OWN" to provide continuity, we have the right base, a group of talented "mid 20's that should we move up a division will still have the team feeling....
Another striker to follow Wilbers in a year or 2's time and yes a young goalie to learn and follow on in a couple years time.
