amongst all the speculation at this time in the transfer period, i have to say connor wickham should have had a further full game since the norwich match ,i think he has had a bad deal from the managment ,he must be given play time ,you can see he has developed from when he first arrived, i think he will proggress through to full internatinal level at some point , i just hope that we do not reflect back and say ,sunderland had him but never played him, i feel the same about myler , not given a fair crack of the whip by the managment,as soon as catts was out he should have been recalled and put in cm instead of larrson ,he has got himself through play time with hull and would haved added that bit more fight and hight in the team , not to mention he was showing how a midfielder can get forward as well and scoring. this obsesession of one up front is good system with the right players, which we have not got im sorry to say , things might change in this window ,but the tatics i m sure will not, its acceptable when playing certain teams but its mind numbing to see us at home going thrugh the same script ,with no thrust until we once again go a goal down. look at the norwich game although we lost ,the play in the second period was a joy to watch , if the players faces were any thing to go by it was like a dog being taken of a lead and allowed to run , yes we lost but for a change it was how we lost, fight ,good passing and the side attacking from all posisitions when possible. had a dream last night i was mr short and forced oniel to play connor up front with james in todays cup tie, and say they wont like this im sure but enjoy yourselves
Pretty much sums things up for me. His stubborn refusal to change tactics/formation is so frustrating at times. If, by the end of the season Wickham still isn't getting proper game time, then you couldn't blame him if he handed in a transfer request. 4-5-1 is ok if you have a squad with plenty of pace, flair & attacking guile or even used defensively against the top clubs. Embarrasing when used at home v QPR.
This smacks of the scenario that occurred in 1981 with Ally McCoist. The club wanted instant success from him and when it didn't happen he went to Rangers, and we all know what happened then. Wickham has to be perservered with but he is not getting amywhere near enough playing time. Mons has got to give the lad a decent run in the team. If that means leaving Sess out and going with two up front then so be it. Sess has done sod all to warrant selection week in week out.
Wonder if he plays Campbell. If he does suggests to me he's going nowhere cos he will be cup tied. MON will probably baffle us all again and play both Saha & Connor upfront with Fletch on the bench.
