Good to see two of our Swans popping up in Squawka's team of the week for their performances against West Ham. Young Tom Carroll and dependable Gylfi Sigurdsson prove their worth once again with stand out performances. For those who don't know, Squawka is one of the main sources online for sports statistics, so it's certainly a good effort to be noticed by them.

    Tom Carroll (Centre Mid)

When it was announced that Tom Carroll would be joining Swansea on loan for the season it seemed like the perfect fit; the club where diminutive passers like Joe Allen and Leon Britton had flourished in deep-lying midfield roles would surely be the scene for Carroll to finally flourish.

While he may not quite have made the impact he would have liked so far and is often behind Jonjo Shelvey in the pecking order, Carroll is beginning to show his quality and carried on his form with a strong display against West Ham on Saturday.

The 21-year-old completed 89% of his passes, created two chances, got two shots off and won 100% of his tackles as Gary Monk’s side held the high-flying Hammers to a 1-1 draw.

    Gylfi Sigurdsson (Attacking Mid)

Sitting just ahead of Carroll in the Swansea midfield was Gylfi Sigurdsson, and while his teammate kept things ticking over in the middle it was the Icelandic international who was tasked with providing the penetration from the middle.

As he has proved all season Sigurdsson was up to the task, providing five chances for his teamates – a total only bettered by David Silva – as well as attempting four take-ons and sending four crosses into the box.

The former Reading and Spurs man also chipped in defensively, completing two interceptions and blocking two shots.
