What is the best way to 'engage' the supporters when promoting a new kit? A couple of Scottish teams have shown two different sides of promoting a new kit with their supporters. Ayr United have taken a lot of criticism for using a topless model with the shirt painted on, not 'politically correct' in these times of gender equality... http://www.heraldscotland.com/news/...r_United_topless_model_kit_promotion/?ref=rss On the other hand Morton, after unveiling a Nike shirt that was lambasted by supporters quickly turned it to their advantage by getting four other kits prepared and giving their fans the opportunity to vote for their favourite, surely this is the way all new kits should be introduced... http://www.greenocktelegraph.co.uk/...ook_at_five_Morton_jerseys_fans_can_vote_for/ TF please take note...
Yep, going down to the local shop to place my vote on the new Morton kit - you can only vote in person as the club were worried about the poll being hijacked by other clubs if it was an online vote (especially by St Mirren, local rivals). The kit Nike provided for Morton was a joke, with no sign of hoops - imagine if we'd stayed with them what disaster they would have supplied Tony with.

Wife and son both like the tartan, they had a whole tartan kit a couple of seasons back which was popular. I'd be edging toward a more solid hoop, like our own, so will probably vote for the white sleeved version - whichever it ends up being, it's a lot better than the ****ey Nike offering!
Who are making the alternatives Steel? Just shows what you can do if the people who make your shirts don't pay you to wear them.
"Both PSL (Provan Sports Limited) and Vision Outsourcing responded by each providing two jersey options apiece." Been and seen the kits, all much better than the Nike one. The solid hoops with the blue sleeves has the club badge imprinted in the hoop - probably the worst of the four hooped kits. The tartan kit was a lighter blue than the others, so not keen on that, and not a fan of the pin-stripe in the hoops either. Talking to the club representative in the shop, he says the feedback and engagement they've had from the fans has been phenomenal - the club didn't particularly like the Nike kit offered to them, but the backlash against.it has given them a perfect opportunity to develop bespoke kits. I asked about numbers on the back, and he was unsure of what colours and styles they were allowed, saying that it must be visible from the press box and directors area, so may have to go with a patch if suitable colours for the numbers are not available - but this still allows fans to have continual hoops if they wish - they have had similar complaints in the past as we have with our kits and hoops. For a small club (regular attendance about 1800 - 2000) they have had over 500 votes cast since yesterday afternoon, with another two days of voting to go.
The Ayr United strip is certainly a tight fitting piece although one wonders how it would fare in bad weather. I'm sure the makers will keep us abreast of the situation if any updates arise.
So, the results are in - 1,185 votes cast over three days, and the winner, with just under 40% of the vote is........ Some changes to be made, after comments made by fans on the voting form - all-in-all a victory for fans and the local community after voicing their dislike of the Nike catalogue kit. Maybe TF would like to do something similar for next seasons Dryworld kit? http://m.greenocktelegraph.co.uk/sport/14528277.Pin_stripe_kit_is_Morton_fans__favourite/ Kit manufacturer will be Vision Outsourcing (??) and pre-orders are at last seasons prices (£40 for adult shirt).
The pinstripe is the one I would have voted for. I did buy a hooped shirt when I was last up in sunny Greenock
