OK I missed the Parma game as I was up in London, judging from the comments on here it was an entertaining 0 - 0 and it looks like it may be coming together, what was the team and how did they do? I've spoken to a mate who was at Yeovil and he was impressed by Kiss, did he play, and how did he do? Second result; I was pushing a buggy (that's like a pushchair, but posh with wobbly wheels ) around Muswell Hill in North London on Sunday morning, killing time before Sunday lunch al fresco in a local pub, in a local charity shop flicking through the books, I come across a copy of "Double A Side" a compilation of Nick Hornby's two best books, "Fever Pitch" and "Hi Fidelity" now I lost my copy of Fever Pitch on holiday in Crete many moons ago, but it's a bloody good read, so for 75p I couldn't leave it there (for those of you not familiar with it, well it's about how tough life is as an ARSENAL fan!!!!!, some fascinating and poignant insights, but the guy, apart from his brief flirtation with Cambridge Utd has been spoilt, a genuine fan no doubt about that, but feeling sorry for yourself as a Gooner!!!, he wants to get into the real world, cracking read though, and an insight into how the other half live) Anyway sat in the beer garden waiting for my nosebag I flick through the book, it's only signed by the author Now obviously I don't know if it's genuine, but I mentioned it to the landlord of the Clissold Arms in East Finchley, a huge Gooner as befits the landlord of a North London boozer. Now my signed copy is dated December 97.................a re-release for the Christmas market, and a book signing at a local bookstore? The guy only lives around the corner after all, the landlord showed the signature to a couple of locals, and offered us a free lunch and £100 there and then he was "prepared to take a chance" that it was genuine...........yeah right! So it might not be the genuine article, but it looks like it might be. A bit like Cardiff really, sounds like wecould be the real thing (playoff spot), picked up cheap, judging by the posts on Saturday's game.................I've kept the book, it's going in my football library....................looks like I've had a result, the thing is HAVE WE?
The Championship was tough last season but it is going to be tougher this year. Easily the best division in terms of competition. My tips (and I am not wumming!) Reading, Forest, Brighton.
Neither Kiss or Gunnarson played. Both picked up slight knocks v Yeovil so not risked. Miller on for second half. Earnie played approx 70-75 mins Marshall, McNaughton, Hudson, Gerrard (Keinan), Taylor (Naylor) Whittingham, Cowie, Conway (Taiwo) Earnshaw (***an), , Gestede (Miller), Mason. Was a good game Proph. You can tell they're playing for each other too. Taylor - Cowie/Whitts - Conway combo looked good going forward. Back 4 looked quite solid.. Mason was well up for it too and would have run all day. I said in another thread I think Malky's uncovered a gem with him. Miller and Earnie were having a go too but we know what they can both do on their day. Malky didn't stop shouting all game either which is something I'm not used to from our manager A few more players in to boost the squad is needed though. A few champ paced games to get up to speed and I think we'll all be pleasantly surprised. Where it'll take us remains to be seen but looking good so far imo Good result with the book (if original sig). I know its a better read than the film adaptation was to watch.
Cheers, H The City result was not on Sky Sports News, or in the (London) Sunday papers, babysitting, had my sons laptop, battery flat and coukdn't find any power leads..................didn't fibd out the result until tonight
I thought u would like that! What do you reckon about Brighton? On a roll, good manager, new stadium.......
not sure if they will sustain it for a whole season...although Norwich proved it's possible last year, I'm not so sure about Brighton. From your 3, Forest always seem to be there abouts and Reading had a storming finish (yes I know, except in the final ) You could probably pick any 3 from about 12 at the moment.
I used to have the same feelings towards Bristol City when I lived in Bradley Stoke many moons ago CVD. Quite liked Bristol Rugby though.
