Just got to get the best deal we can for him. How much that is, iv'e no idea, but the more clubs after him, the higher the bidding will be. I expect they will be a profit, but not half asmuch as some seem to think.
£25 million is the minimum. If he is to leave, i second poolie, Spurs, in exchange for Defoe and Krajkaer, then if we add Pob or Welbeck, we're good to go. I'd still rather keep Gyan than any of these options, i fel he's more than a footballer for us, he's a bit of a team figurehead, a real character.
Every player has his price and long terms contracts only guarantee that a fair price can be negotiated. Like many here, I really dont want him to go at all but if he wants to and the someone is willing to pay it, nothing less than 30m minimum for me. He is a proven International; has scored 10 goals in the EPL already in his first year and there is no doubt he will be twice as good in his 2nd year. Goals per game ratio will be very good too and he is only 26 and in the peak of his career. Andy Carroll for 35m? Henderson for 20m? Downing for 20m? Gyan is better than all of these but you have to factor the 'surcharge' for English players so 30m would be a fair price IMO. However, I restate my desire to see the lad stay and play for SAFC in this new look side SB is building.
I would agree with Cest but 30m is a huge number (in anything other than bloody football!). Would love to see him stay, would love for him to want to stay but if he goes then we must ensure that we have a replacement lined up (please no Bent again - would that be a U bend?) and ensure that we make enough to clear the price we paid for him and to sort the incomer(s). Dont forget, we hold the upper hand here, as he still has 2 years left to run on his contract. If someone is willing to pay 30m to loosen our grip, then it softens the blow. With 30m we could buy Doyle, Long, Hutton AND Krancjar?
Love these £30m price tags.... No club in England is gonna pay that for him. Maybe a foreign one, will part with that money (doubtfull though). So there will be no swap deals involved then, so it'll be hard cash talk. If SAFC slap a £30m tags on him, and refuse to negotiate anything less, no need to worry, he'll be going no-where.
