MOrning folks, I know part of this topic will have been discussed previously but, in light of Capello's resignation, thought it quite appropriate. We all remember how we were condemned for chanting KK's name around Anfield whilst Hodgson was in charge, and all the press saying we were undermining Woy's management and making it difficult for him to succeed.

Now we see how the press has been happily courting Redknapp as the next England manager - Even whilst Capello was still in charge! Double standards spring to mind here and I am getting a little tired of it all now!

    What are your thoughts?

Agreed about the double standards of the press KK.

Also the England managers job is a poison chalice for managers, the press build them up only to find fault an chop them to bits a little further down the line.

So more fool 'Arry if he takes it.

You're right about the poisoned chalice, but I'd still expect Flash to take it if offered.

It's odd that, for a change, Ferguson's name isn't coming up early on in the tabloids' discussion of who "should" be England manager as it usually does. Or has he threatened blanket bans if it is?

They learned years ago that as a 'Proud Scot' and former manager of the Scottish National team, linking him to the England job would be the end of their press pass to Old Trafford...

    Exactly.

We'd kicked his/Aberdeen's arse bigtime in Europe and after his bragging that his team would easily beat us in the 2nd leg he was humiliated,he then had a spat with Kenny and Souey and Hansen was guilty by association and missed out on a chance of playing in a world cup finals by consequence.

What are you on? 3edknapp was in court for weeks before Capello left. The press weren't courting him, they were reporting his trial. It was only once Capello had resigned that Harry got mentioned. Until then it was widely accepted Capello was going to be in charge for the Euro's.

There is no press conspiracy against Liverpool- the club is toxic. It's got the stale smell of an old boys club around it- demonstrated recently by the decision to give Gerrard a contract for life. No doubt in 10 years he will be exerting a similar influence to KK now- making it impossible for the club to ever progress. What was it adidas said when they decided not to renew their sponsorship? Was that part of the conspiracy.
