Let's remember that we are dealing with two deadlines this month and, in fact, including the next too.

We are all hoping that there will be players signed by 12 noon on Friday 15th August in order for them to be eligible to play the next day.

The transfer window closes at (likely) 23:00 on Monday 1st September since the official date of 31.8.14 falls on a Sunday, deemed not to be a normal working day. This seems a bit dated given the number of matches played on a Sunday!

I would be surprised, given Harry and QPR's history if we did not see at least one last minute rush to HQ on 1.9.14 but I hope, as I am sure all of you do too, that we have a stronger line up for the first game.

Of course, after the 1st September deadline, there remains the possibility of free transfers and loans.

So, despite yet another Thursday passing with no news, hang on to your hats. The ride is not over yet!

Whilst we could make the signings they wouldn't be able to feature until January (or Cup games - stop laughing you never know!) as they would be out of the submitted 25 man squad - unless they fall into the under 21's cat?

You would hope that we get most of business sorted in time - it always ceases to amaze me - every point winning opportunity counts in this league!

I do actually subscribe to the notion that a lot of deals are signed, sealed an delivered well before 'Transfer Deadline Day', but Sky have it written somewhere in the contract that these deals cannot be announced before that day for dramatic effect......It certainly gets me, and many others, watching in anticipation each year.

Previously anyway the 25 man squad doesn't need to be submitted until after the transfer deadline. If it had worked that way we would have had a lot less players the last time we were in the PL, as most of our business has been done the last day! I fully expect the same again this time, unfortunately.

Thanks Richard, meant to include that in OP ie that the key to any sort of success, whether survival or winning it, is a GOOD START! So come on Beard or whoever, only 14 days to go.

I'd like all our business done before the 14th - but suspect we'll see Harry talking through his car window at Harlington - talking about a "smashing lad"

Providing you haven't named a full 25 man squad (or they qualify as U21) you can bring in free transfers after the deadline. You can't bring in any loans though. Emergency loans are just for Football League sides not Premier League ones, the only exception is the usual one about if you're left with only 1 goalkeeper or 12 outfield players available for selection due to injury you can sign someone short term to make up numbers in the matchday squad.
