I do feel sorry for luke. He hasn't really been given a chance under van Gaal really, he was only in the side when United were abysmal.
Lallana however... Hahaha. I hope he's dropped for the final

I don't get Man Utd. I'm sure a few years back everyone up there was saying how they were in massive debt, and couldn't afford to compete with the likes of Chelsea etc. However they have since spent 50 mill on Zaha/Shaw and hardly played them, 60 mill on Di Maria etc. Always respected Ferguson's transfer dealings, he would sometimes splash out, but more often than not would find an absolute bargain. These days they just throw money around.

    And then there's Falcao...

I have very limited sympathy for Luke in his situation as he has joined a long line of people looking for the big time and not listening to the club.

The club rightly will always try and protect their interests and investment by saying the young players with potential should stay longer, but you would assume at some point that either Luke, his parents or advisors might try and look at the bigger picture about what could unfold at United or any other club he could've gone to.

As has turned out currently, he looks like the next Theo Walcott or Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain. He chose to leave the protective bubble of where he was bought up and it is currently backfiring on him. I have only greed to blame for this one.

He could've easily stayed and developed as a player with us but chose the money route and found himself out in the cold and at real risk of failure of he doesn't settle at the start of next season. Time nor Luis Van Gaal wait for no one, not even last seasons next big thing!

As for Adam, the situation is similar but the blame lies solely with him. He had his head turned by the Liverpool influence while on international duty and thought he was better than he was, deciding to turn his back in the club and supporters that made him the player he was.

Greed ruled, why stay for the adulation of so many fans who had seen him through thick and thin, why stay at the club where he was recognised originally by the national team, why stay in a team that had a record points haul, why stay when an arrogant and greedy club where you aren't guaranteed anything on a season by season basis comes calling....? Sorry Adam, karma's a bitch ain't it...?

I have little or no sympathy for either. Both got starry-eyed. In a way I can understand Lallana moving way more than Shaw. Adam was 26, so he was either going to go or stay. Shaw had several seasons to go before he could have made the jump to some glamour club, if need be. Both went and I suspect that Lallana will do fine eventually. Shaw's career could come apart at the seams, and what a shining example he could end up being to those who are being ill-advised even at this moment.

Is your mortgage bigger than your annual income (or start bigger)? That's partly how they did it.

I have no sympathy for either of them, Shaw's thrown away the potential he had - he might well come good, but he won't come as good as he could have done if he stayed here longer.

As for Lallana, all I can say is **** you, hope you rot.

Typical scouse attitude, not even there yet, and talking about the final game being the FA Cup final.

Interesting read, haven't got much sympathy with Lallana, but I worry for Luke? When you play for a club like United you have to perform and if his next season is similar to this one, he might just find himself loaned out to the likes of Chesterfield or some other God forsaken destination?

Rubbish article. Soap opera drama. Luke has plenty of time - has done well to get in the starting team as much as he has at 18. They can afford to leave him out for the next two seasons, and get him up to speed.

Its a real shame to see two of our finest young players chase the cash only to find things aren't as rose out there as they thought.
I have no sympathy with them as they made their decisions based on how much more they could earn rather than footballing reasons and it has bitten them on the bum
I hope Clyny and Snidders read these articles and learn from the mistakes of others but somehow I doubt it as the lure of huge wages/signing on fees/Houses/Cars etc will be absolutely paramount in their minds.
    Very sad but true

I don't know really. There is always one youngster that is talked up big time, then disappears. It all depends if Shaw can get his head sorted.

    If, if, if....

Imagine our team had Lallana decided to stay.

I know, he went, I get it. But I can't help wondering.

Why? It would have been basically the same as it is now.

Zaha made the mistake of going to Man U ....fortunately for him he back at Palace and his career is back on track.

May not be greener but is a lot more lucrative.
Luke is earning 5 times more sat on the bench or in the stands than he did playing every match at Saints. I am sure that helps relieve the frustration of not being picked to play, abused by your fans and struggling to get in the international side

I'd wager that's not the first C- young Mr Shaw has had in his time....

I actually feel worse for Lallana than Shaw in this limited instance.

Sounds like Van Gaal isn't backing Shaw and/or Shaw can't get his head on straight. That's on him either in choosing the wrong team, or failing to evolve.
But Lallana's played decently and Rodgers seems to like him and he would probably be on the pitch most games, except he's had some injury problems.
