Lots of gossip flying around on Twitter last night that we could expect the announcement of three signings today, 2 of which were to be strikers. Lots of names bandied around including; Yak Kamara Heskey Nugent Owen (loan) - i find unlikely as he has stated on twitter himself that he would rather be a bit part player at a great club than a regular at a lower club!! Pantsil The suspense is killing me......
I used to be a big fan of Owen’s, but he’s gone down a long way in my estimations since he returned to this country. Left Newcastle after injury when I would’ve thought he’d feel morally obliged to give them at least a season. Now he’s happy to sit on the bench at Man Utd and collect medals after contributing very little. Would they have won the league without his contribution? – almost certainly! I’d sooner have a player who’s a bit hungrier to play and bring a Championship club forward.
I would have thought if there were signings today we would have heard a bit more already, not just from twitter. If they really are announced today the Club have done a good job covering them up. But I'm willing to be pleasantly surprised though (unless one of them's Ikeme)
Stringer has said that the Yakubu deal probaly wont go through until next week so just remain patient. Yesterday was the first day we actually seen Sven making his moves so by patient. Transfers rarely happen on weekends so lets wait until Monday or Tuesday and the we can expect new signings
Wouldnt be surprised if we have to wait past next week. Seems that all the home based players are receiving attention from a number of clubs. Also seems that most players are away on holiday at the moment so press conferences would be delayed. Like everyone else, I am anxiously waiting for signings like everybody else but think late June/early July will see players arriving. Be patient.
Apparently a stumbling block over Yak's deal is the wages. I hope we're firm with him and aren't held to ransom over it.
