Redknapp 'to leave Spurs' Spurs boss says there is nothing he can do about contract situation Last Updated: June 13, 2012 9:55pm Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp has reportedly held talks with chairman Daniel Levy amid claims the 65-year-old's tenure at White Hart Lane is set to come to an end. The Spurs manager's camp and the club have not commented on reports that both parties have reached breaking point in not being able to reach agreement over an extension to his current deal, which is due to expire next summer. It has been claimed that Levy is only willing to offer Redknapp a rolling 12-month contract whereas the former Portsmouth manager is thought to want a longer deal. An outraged Redknapp earlier insisted that there was no truth in reports he has resigned as Tottenham manager. Redknapp did achieve Levy's goal of reaching the top four last term, but Spurs missed out on playing in the UEFA Champions League after Chelsea's penalty shoot-out win over Bayern Munich last month. Redknapp has repeated his call for Levy to hand him a new deal, claiming the impasse could see an exodus of the club's top players like Luka Modric and Gareth Bale. Extension "The simple situation is, I've got a year left on my contract," he told ESPN Soccernet. "It's up to Tottenham whether they want to extend that contract or not. "If they don't extend it and I go into my last year, it's not an easy one when players know you've only got a year left. "It's not a case of me looking for security. What it's about is players knowing you've only got one year left on your contract and knowing that it doesn't work, basically. "I think it's a situation of, 'well, he might not be here next year'. "You don't let players run into the last year of their contract if you think they're any good, and you don't let managers run into the last year of their contract if you think they're any good. "It's up to Tottenham. If they think I'm okay and I've done a decent job and deserve an extension, they'll give it to me. "If Daniel doesn't think I'm worth it, that's up to him, that's up to the club. There's nothing I can do about it."
Anyone else think its a little strange that Arry did not get offered the England job, yet his current employer does not seem to want to re-sign him either. Arry seemed to say the reason he did not want the England job was he was happy at Spurs??? more to this than meets the eye me thinks
Harry has a big gob. He's done nothing but bang on about having only a year left on his contract for weeks. Daniel Levy has called his bluff & told him to sling his hook and take his brown paper bag with him.
Big mistake by Spurs getting rid of Redknapp after what he has done with them, I beleive it was over a new contract? Anyways on a personal, brilliant! Now we can all sit back, relax and laugh at Levy when Spurs start dropping over the next couple of seasons. Moyes won't be next manager.
Holy Crap! Can anyone imagine Moyes at White Hart Lane? I hope it happens. Everton will never take 3 points from Sunderland again!
But now who's gonna talk about our players, and make us all feel a wee bit more handsome watching SSN. Woe is me.
Personally think villas boas would be a good option. His Porto side wer a fantastic attacking side and that's what he tried at Chelsea but after a couple of games it was obvious he never had the players to play that way. His downfall was making it him against the senior players which cost him, for me he tried to do everything to quickly. Tortenham is totally different though, they play more like his Porto side and all the players are of a good age, he would prove that he is a top manager to the doubters if he went there IMO
We all know how tight Levy is, reading between the lines Levy wouldn't give him what he wants and what Redknapp thought he deserved, so that was that, I think, well, i'm guessing.
I will try and cheer you up, if Moyes goes to Spurs we won't be able to get anything off them now as well... Woooooooooopppss.
The Spuds are kind of half/half about it from what they are saying on the radio. Some are happy? Others are devastated.
