Having just seen 'Project Parent', I can now say that all of those old shows mentioned on the 80's and 90's threads pale in comparison.
According to a clip which I have checked out on the CBBC website (such was my curiosity), "Project parent is the show that puts you in charge of your single parents life". Essentially, they give their parent a make over, which is fair enough, but then have to audition 3 men or women and choose one to take their mother/father on a date. The kids are about 9/10/11 years old for God's sake!
Sample quote, from a young girl:
"I'm worried about my mum; she dresses like a gypsy, has been on her own for two years and needs to find her Prince Charming"

PS. The same girl quote above then added "I want to find someone who looks a bit like Raymond Blanc"
