Man Utd are in freefall. Chelsea are as inconsistent as us before we got Van Dijk. We have a difficult game against City's ref then an easy 15-game run-in.
whats the maths on this? whats the predicted points for 2nd? city have 62 Utd have 47 Cheslea have 46 LFC have 44 Spurs have 41 16 games left Last year 2nd went to 86 points spurs. Last year after 22 games the table was: Chelsea 55 Arsenal 47 Spurs 46 Liverpool 45 City 43 final table was cheslea 93 Spurs 86 City 78 Liverpool 76 Arsenal 75 So Spurs last year did 40 points of 16 games = 2.5 points per game = 13 wins in effect out of 16. City took 35 from 16 = 12 wins Liverpool did 31 points Arsenal slumped to take only 28 points out of the 16 games = 9 wins. So..... Other factors: 1. CL: all teams still in it. The round of 16 will drop someone out but we will see 2. FA cup. all still in until this weekend 3. League cup: cheslea in this, city in this. arsneal in this. that fills up january for them. So right now at this moment in time no team has an advantage of focus on just the league but LFC and utd have easier januarys. We know spurs love to throw the cups and really just focus on the league. I fully expect to see them dump the FA cup quickly and the CL too. We know Utd have too much ego to do this. We know Cheslea will try win everything and blow up. We don't know that the **** LFC are thinking ever about cups. What we do know is this thread needs a poll.... I'll add points prediction for 2nd.
I'll guess 83 points for 2nd. LFC would need 39 points = 13 wins out of 16. Don't think we have the team for that. I think LFC max total is about 76 points again based on i hope an fa cup run and more draws (32 points = 9-5-1 record = optimistic)
Couldn't this have gone in the other thread with a change of title? Too much tussling is bad at my age.
I dared him to do it. just let me close the other one as the poll is done there. 76 for 4th. let this one run its course for the poll and then we can debunk to dribs one.
Hard to see anyone putting a decent run together to nail down second. We drop stupid points as do Utd, Spurs and Arsenal. Chelsea would be the team that could go on that run.
I'm still going to be optimistic about 2nd until it's out of reach, but I'd be happy with 3rd and avoid all that qualifying round business next year.
