Some of us have wrote here about that after todays match. Well, im not yet up to it after today. Our performance was not good and we needed bags of luck to win boro. Our second half however was lot better than abysmal first half where we (apart the first two minutes) continue to play like we did against charlton, reading, derby, sheffield w etc. If we managed to beat wigan i might just start to believe.
A welcome dose of realism Igor, thank you. We have struggled all season and not miraculously improved over night. As ever the hope burns strong.
Wigan is an important game, Igor the Assassin, but not for points reasons. We've got a little cushion in that regard so its not what you'd call a "must win" game. But mentally it would be good to lay down a marker against one of the top sides, saying "we're still here and we're a top side" and allowing the players realise and believe that they can beat anyone they like in this Division when they put their minds to it. We can stuff Wigan Tuesday night. I know they're a good side but we can roll over them.
I know swordie. I believe we are nailed to play offs if we win wigan and almost more importantly get loads of selfconfidence from it. But (and its a big one!) Wigan are in really good form and havent lost for ages. If we continue to play like we had during the last two months we have absolutely no chance. We have to be much more faster with or without ball and we have to win head to head battles. If we do all that then we can relay to Ravel and his magic to win the match for us.
OK...I know I am fickle like the rest...it is all sooooooooooooooo awful (but we are 4th in the league), we are great.....but cannot beat any good teams... But I saw something yesterday (Suk-Yung) that made me think, I cannot get these thoughts out of my head...I am thinking that we are actually getting there, we actually have a team forming, in spite of everything GK .....Green...(goalkeepers last forever) Defence....Simpson, Ned, Suk-Yung...an oldie, Donaldson Midfield.....Phillips, Traore, Faurlin, Morrison (if we go up and hang-on to him)....Joey as a leader Forwards...Austin, That is 10 players worth building on...we desperately need a DCM but we also need a manager who will go with this and with the youngsters we have who are showing so much promise in lower clubs ..... Ehmer, Harriman, Petrasso and Hitchcock and of course....the "one-for the future Brazilian" I think the key is a manager who will go with youngsters I am hoping, that in Harrys mind...this is a last hurrah...he desperately wants promotion to sign off on a high...and I am happy with that if he can produce that result...I will then take next season as a struggle just to consolidate...because I see the green shoots of spring.....but on Tuesday I will be back to depression I am sure
I really fear for us against Wigan, we could get our arses handed to us unless our performances dramatically change!
Guys, even Steve Claridge, not noted for ever saying much that is positive about QPR, stated that with returning players (and he made the very good point that every win buys more time for Austin, Simpson, AJ - not Phillips sadly - etc to return to the first team. With winning comes winning ways and confidence and time for key players to get back to playing again. I reckon we owe Wigan and a win on Tuesday will do the players, the Club and the fans a world of good. Many people on here have been speculating about a playoff place but with key players back in the first team and giving it a really good go. That is looking more and more possible with each week. Of course Burnley play Leicester at home on 29th March. One or both will lose some ground. I guess we hope Leicester win that one. We play Blackpool that day. I'm a bit concerned about Earnshaw who always seems to score against QPR. Bottom line? It is not over yet!!
Yep! Need to see lot more evidences before we could even talk about turning point. Tuesday is good day to start doing so.
Okay so we didn't "stuff" them but we did a number on them in the psychological stakes and more importantly, ourselves. This result should give the lads a much needed boost in confidence and I think it might be worth more than the three points that were offered. BTW, does my going back and regurgitating my old posts to show that I may have gotten summat right, make me come across a tad conceited? You know, like I'm blowing my own horn? Looking for recognition and the like??? (Good, cos that's exactly what I'm doing )
I think calling a very close 1-0 a stuffing tonight is spot on! Anyway I hope I got it totally wrong in wanting Arry out a month ago, and he takes us on an 8 game winning run to an automatic promotion spot - from a luckily misplaced bottle top comes renewed confidence, and the PL is still achievable, just.
It certainly looked much better but still theres much to do. I might just started to believe again........
We were lucky but there was more effort than was seen in previous matches. Get Yun, Austin, Philips and Simpson back in and we will have as good a chance as anyone in the playoffs.
Not so much as a turning point but we are in the time that really matters and just maybe our strength of squad now comes to the fore As much as I thought we would be clear by ten it looks like Harold's big day out at Wembley is on the cards He can't lose then and I can see the interviews now 19 out and injuries to key players will mask over the crap The players themselves should rise from here on in as each game is a cup final Say again as I did in Oct Wigan are super strong and will beat The foxes and Burnley this game is key now IMO as we have a slight chance to be in the mix as do Wigan We need Foxes to win against Burnley now or it all blows up Have to keep thinking positive Brighton and Wednesday games now look very bad for us Spilt milk however Let's keep going and see what happens
