https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news...hrown-firework-starts-blaze-at-liver-building I'm afraid I expected a lockdown breakdown (though none of my family have), but ffs. Played right into Joe's hands, and allows those who'd rather deflect away from our triumph (or just be quiet and resentful) to do just that. Apart from criminal charges, hope all involved are banned for life, as the club has ****ing told them to go home. ****ers.
For context though, Everton had as many fans arrested when they played Millwall in the FA Cup last year. So for the first title in 30 years that isn't too bad.
There was always going to be some who contain themselves on Thursday night but the behaviour last night just beggars belief .
Yes but also unfair to judge other fans by their behaviour in the first place. Police are closing down illegal parties all over the country. Including one in Brixton where 22 police officers were injured. This is not a football issue or a club issue (as some ABLs would suggest). It's a people issue.
There is a bigger issue I agree but it doesn't excuse the behaviour of those fans. It is also important to remember that there are many Liverpool fans who celebrated in the right way and that the ones who overstepped the line are not representitive of all our fans. If a large group had celebrated in the right way it still wouldn't have been right in the current covid situation but most would understand it. The considerable amount of people who overstepped the mark have really done a job on us and given others the ammunition they needed.
For context though; during a virus lockdown and firing rockets at the Liver Buildings (or town hall, as Liam Gallagher now calls it)? I think Thursday night can be understood, even forgiven. But two night later at The Pier Head? It's pissed up ****er time now. My sister and her family have just had barbies and rockets every night since Thursday in their back garden - that's what to do if you really want to piss the Blueshites off. Flags on the cars, asterisks on the t-shirts, YNWA drifting across the neighbourhood each night. That's the way to do it. Pissing my Man U neighbours off here in York anyway.
The fact that other inexcusable things go on doesn't make one thing any less inexcusable. For good or bad (and I don't want to go into that here) our club has been associated with some terrible events in the past, and there are those just itching for us to do something to justify their prejudices. In recent years we have made the headlines for all the right reasons - to undermine that and to give the haters reason to rekindle their hatred is stupid and irresponsible. No excuse for it.
