After the demolition of Poland last night England have now been installed as third favourites to win the World Cup according to reliable sources. Spain and Brazil are joint favourites. This could really be England's year next year. It will be the the 48th anniversary since the slaying of The Bosch at Wembley and what fiiting way to celebrate this landmark occasion by bringing the trophy back home where it belongs. I really think it will be England's year. The golden generation have come of age.
Only if you hold a mirror up to that 3 and make it an 8. http://www.oddschecker.com/football/world-cup/outrights/world-cup/winner
I love the World Cup. I shall enjoy watching the games knowing that at some point England will be knocked out. Hopefully they'll get into the knockout stages as that's where the tension really starts to mount, not that you lot would know about that. Whatever happens it will be great fun and a pleasant distraction from proper sport (cricket).
I'm looking forward to it now. I know we'll make the quarters at best, but going off the last couple of team selections and the attacking approach we've employed, at least the games might actually be entertaining. The Italy match during Euro '12 was eye-stabbingly tedious.
I like to cheer on the Nigels in the pub. Nothing worse than a bitter Scot watching an England match let me tell you. Winding them up is good
I couldn't give 2 ****s if they win or not. Nothing like a bitter Rangers fan making a **** of himself thinking he's taking the moral high-ground though.
I would happily support Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland in the same situation. Not if Salmond and ST get their way though
England were refreshingly good to watch last night. Believe it or not, we actually had a player that could run with the ball and beat a man. We've not had that since Steve McManaman, and he was hardly George Best anyway. No doubt they'll bottle it when the pressure is on, but at least we can fail in style.
Townsend was a breath of fresh air and last night's game was the most entertaining England game I've seen in years ... but defensively we are rather ****e and Cahill and Jagielka will get ripped new ones against most teams in Brazil ... the Poles showed how weak we are defensively ... we have to rethink the defence (Baines aside) ...
