Any of you lads and lasses ever experienced really bad turbulence? How bad was it? Has a really bad patch on the way back from Frankfurt yesterday and the plane was getting battered from left to right and stuff was flying off the food trolley. It **** me up.
2 solid hrs on a flight out of the Caribbean from work about 10yrs ago - they ran out of sick bags Never ate so many bacon sarnies for breakfast - so every cloud and all that
Worst landing funnily enough was going out to Milan to see the lads against Inter - took the pilot three attempts to put it on the runway Didn't see a single mackem though...
Back in February I was flying up to see my mum in Scotland from Gatwick. T'was the day all the wind and storms cancelled trains and flights and my flight was one of the last to depart that day. I hate flying at the best of times (who wants to be tens of thousands of feet up in the air in a tin can?). Scariest thing ever, the plane took off and tilted sideways violently. Whole plane gasped but I was sat next to a little 5-7 year old girl and I was screaming as loud and as high pitched as her, luckily everyone thought it was her
Once had a flight from Atlanta to New Orleans in severe thunderstorms when I was a student. The plane was bouncing all over the place for the whole journey. Loads of people on board were absolutely hysterical. The guy next to me was ****ting himself and I think I made things worse cos I kept bursting out laughing. Think it was more of a nervous reaction than not being scared, but not sure that made him appreciate my laughter anymore. The flight was with Valujet and not long before their crash in the Florida everglades when the company got hammered for lack of safety practices and maintenance. Not sure I would have been laughing so loud if I'd known how dodgy they were.
We stayed down south in Karlsruhe this week but for Frankfurt anywhere north bank of the river is a decent location. Transfers are quick too.
Flew in a massive storm in Bangkok, felt like the plane just stopped at one point. Also bad turbs flying into JFK we couldn't land first attempt. Worst was back from Malaga, hit by lighting it was louder than anything I've ever heard and the lights went out, I was convinced it was all over.
The captain come on the tannoy immediately and said it was common and has absolutely no effect on the plane. Whilst it was reassuring it was too late to save my soiled duds.
The cabin crew do talk in code an awful lot. If a wing flew off they would probably call it a minor flesh wound as the plane hurtled into oblivion.
Flew back in from Malta in 2005 when that mighty storm hit the UK....when Bocastle in the West Country was washed away...the last three hours of the flight was frightening, the worst part was flying over Manchester, nearly shat myself.
