I find it difficult to believe that we would be foolish enough to play what is largely a first team in a meaningless friendly 3 days before an FA Cup match
If the Gills side was INDEED the one shown by TC, there's no chance of us surviving the Championship any time soon. Of course THAT is mere conjecture (as may be our survival chances in L1 this season.) From what I've seen up to now, I would put us as 3rd or 4th worst team in L1. ( just for once I hope that I am not alwaysright ) - I think we might even struggle on Saturday !
The score means nothing. The friendly could have been a way of trying things in match situations. Without knowing what the objectives to the match were it's very easy to see the score and think "oh ****!"
I was thinking a lot worse ! I can understand your sentiments- usually only expressed by losers ( not YOU personally ). It's a bit like saying that " It's the thought that counts " when disappointed by a birthday/Christmas present. - It's a polite way of displaying your displeasure without causing too much offence. In our case we need to be realistic and understand that survival in L1 may depend on one or two shrewd signings in January - because our present lot will be lucky to be only 5th worst in this division come the end of the season. Our current lofty position of 18th may take a hit once we have to play ALL the 'top half' teams again. I hope that we make improvements to secure L1 status - but presently not holding my breath---- but I'll still go to support.
TC...I know your question was not aimed at me but yes that is our first team...the only notable absence is probably Leon Legge.
15 games in demonstrates to me that MA ruined us last season with his MadDog ways...yes you can cloud it with a piece of silverware but my view did not and has not changed. Basically TC used the word pikey in jest...and i say in jest MA built the scrap yard.
I guess a suspicious man might be forgiven for thinking that's why PT wants a decision on the managers job after the Sheffield game, Brackley and Sheffield are winnable, after that things will start to get harder and our team without new blood is just not up to it.
To be honest, the game was behind closed doors so I didn't go or know anyone that went apart from the journo that posted the teams and scorers - they were the starting 11s but god knows how many changes were made and at what point the goals were scored. For all I know, your starting 11 may have gone in at the break 1-0 up and you bought on your U12s for the 2nd half!!
