Do we keep most of last nights team to maintain recent improvement or give the youngsters another go? Who would you play up front? Billy and Rickie or Guly and Connoly? Views?
All depends on how everyone recovers from last nights match. There may be a few knocks that appeared after they warmed up again. Nigel does want to win this..he is a fan of the cup. I'm sure he will field a strong side with a couple of changes...perhaps have Lambo on the bench and start with Sharp. Another game for Bart of course. Lee will be involved for experience. Think he will persist with Puncheon as he's looking good at moment. Fox of course suspended.
Maybe chappers might get a run out? What has de Ridders done now? I understood Hoover is back in training will he get a run out you think?
Nigel likes to keep everyone involved so I don't think he would want to ignore Tadanari Lee. However I would have thought a priority would be to try and get Lambert and Sharp playing well together so I would want to give them a run out. I would like us to do well in the cup this year so I would field a strong side and go all out to win the game.
We seem to have forgotten Barnard. Not sure where he fits in if all others are fit, but surely he'll be on the bench.
I thought Sharp couldn't play in the replay because he wasn't registered with Saints for the first match? If that's the case I would start with Rickie and Tadanari Lee, and have Barnard on the bench.
Yeah Sharp can't play as he wasnt registered for the original game anyway, I would go for a mixture of 1st team, reserve and youth Bialkowski Butterfield Martin Fonte Harding De Ridder Hammond Reeves Holmes Lambert Barnard Subs: Davis, Richardson, Stephens, Ward-Prowse, Hoskins (if fit), Lee, Chaplow
Lee and Sharp up front. Chaplow and De Ridder on the wings. A mix of youth and first team to fill up the rest. Edit: Guessing sharp is cup-tied? So maybe Barnard
Apparently, Sharp isn't cup-tied, in the traditional sense, and can play in the FA Cup for Saints, but..! He wasn't a signed and sealed Saints player when we first played Millwall, so can't be considered for the replay. Should we get through, he's fine to play subsequent cup matches, this season.
As I've just been discussing on another thread, we've got so many options (offensively at least) that I don't see any need for us to play most of yesterday's XI, on Tuesday. Rest them for the Burnley-West Ham double-header, whilst giving the current fringe players a run-out. Bart Butterfield Martin Jaidi Harding De Ridder Chaplow Hammond Holmes Lee Barnard Davis, Stephens, Fonte, JWP, Reeves, Guly, Connolly (Obviously this is assuming that all of these guys are available)
Players got back very late last night. I would imagine stiff from the cold and from sitting in a coach for 5 hours. Day off today, so only 1 full day of training before next game so my line up would be.... Bart Stephens Fonte Martin Shaw De Rid Hammond Ward-P Harding T Lee Barnard Subs: Sharp, Reeves, Cork, Puncheon, Hoover? Richardson, Davis It's a perfectly capable team to get us through, Harding would offer protection for Shaw, De Ridder can be a livewire. I'd replace Barnard with Sharp on 60 mins to get him another run out. I really don't rate Holmes, sorry. I think this is the most sensible option with some big league games coming up but I don't expect that to be the team.
I think some members often post and don't read. There have been two explanations of Sharp's unavailability - yours and mine.
