People shouldn’t sleep on Ravenhill Road for Cheltenham. I know the owners think a lot of him. Today’s price a little short for real money (but I’ll fire away in the comp) but when he jumps a larger obstacle I would be surprised if he doesn’t prove to be top table stuff.

I wouldn’t normally have looked at that race but I see Euxton Lane is entered and is showing at 40s. Might have a dabble in the comp ..,,,,

    Morning

    2.35 Doncaster-Ruby Yeats

    Each Way @ 13-2 [Skybet]...5 places [1/5]

Stable in form so fitness after 290 days off should not be an issue

    3 50 Taunton - Speedy Gonzalez 25/1

Interesting runner, was mediocre on the flat but Muir sends it over and Richard Johnson takes the ride, one of only two rides he has today and he waits a couple of hours for it. Defo worth a dabble at the price

Mark Johnston has a 21.75% strike rate at Yarmouth and this is his 700th runner and only runner on the card, 1 45 Southwell - Poet's Society 12/1

Tough race but another worth the bet at the prices

    Southwell not Yarmouth lol

    Morning, team. Hope everyone tickety-boo.

I see that connections have opted to give my old fave, UNIONISTE, a campaign in Hunter Chases with, it would appear, the Foxhunters at the Cheltenham Festival (25/1 available) the ultimate aim. He would need to qualify, for the Festival heat, though before this was possible. Takes his first steps to achieving this later though in the splendidly monikered ‘Tally-Ho Hunters Chase’, across the county line, at Taunters (3.20).

With form figures of -0009 last term Unioniste appeared a much lesser light than the animal who was rated 159 in his pomp but let’s hope that a much lower level contest can invigorate the old boy and old glories, to some extent, be relived.

The stable, of Mr Nicholls, have had much success with similar types in recent Hunter Chasing campaigns and let’s hope he could even be another Pacha Du Polder or Wonderful Charm (who I can confirm was named after me).

Meanwhile, I had also liked ‘ooooooooooooop’ at Doncaster Lieutenant Henderson’s CASABLANCA MIX (2.00) be she is now a non, I say non, runner.

    Good luck all.

Unioniste only 2nd (beaten a bally nose!) but it does move him a step closer to qualification for the Foxhunters at Cheltenham. He will qualify if he finishes 1st or 2nd in another Hunters Chase between now and something like the end of Feb / early March (the exact date is around this point).

Although if he is to win the big heat itself he will have to perform better than getting outpointed (albeit narrowly) by an animal rated just 116!

Looks like he’s been booked in to the school of Henrietta knights how to jump and the plan is to hopefully turn up in the supreme!

Pretty crap run from Ravenhill yesterday. Proper chaser in the making but it really should have been winning that race by a few lengths. Back to the drawing board for Ellison.

That Humphrey story is old news was around last week but the whole press release seems to have been altered somewhat in the interim! I would say there is as much chance of him turning up in the Supreme as the ‘Cheltenham roar’ being spontaneous!
