    Huntingdon notes

Mamoon Star would hack up in the first if he takes to the headgear and that angle is a positive for Fergal's yard in general. Cheekpieces 1st time is positive for the yard with a 16% strike rate. However it is more of a positive when adding a tongue tie as well.

3:00 A race that has three angles that I am interested in. We have Derham (Recoded) and his yard, this is another first time out runner for the yard after coming from Lorna Fowlers. The horse has been supported in the market too. We also have a horse with form from another good new yard, James Owen runs Ballytechno. This is the horse they all have to beat on form. Then finally we have The Grey Ghost from another up and coming trainer, and one that has a positive angle with the jockey Liam Harrison. This horse is another joining a new yard, and looks to be well supported.

I think the 3:00 is one to watch!

    17:20 Galway - Marine Ranger e/w

A Flat Race for 4YO's only over an extended 2m on good ground. Selection at a decent price currently is the Soldier of Fortune gelding, Marine Ranger, (Damsire: Beneficial), who can certainly gain a podium finish, at least. Mr. Finian Maguire rides for the P. A. Fahey stable.

11/1 best price early-doors, in nearly all places on the ATR site.

    15:30 Huntingdon - Cartonne

A Class-4 Handicap Chase over just under 2m4f on good ground. Theo Gillard rides for the in-form Donald McCain Jr. yard.

11/2 (Wm.Hill) best price early-doors, on the ATR site

Every day would be a bad day at the office for me Swanny. That's if I even tried to pick a winner

When I used to have the time to study a race (not to mention selecting a race worth studying) I would provisionally select one and then one by one ask myself if this one beat it, what would be the reason, and only if I came up with I can't thnk of a reason for all the others would I go ahead with my selection. It gets very tiring when that doesn't happen very often. Hence how I stopped betting a long time ago

I may have backed Goliath (not eligible) or COT in the Arc if one of them had run but as it was, it was far too open to have a bet
