One I like at Bath tomorrow is in the 2.30 WASPY 5/2 I took the 5/2 earlier but is 2/1 now. R Hughes can get this improver home in front.

Best of luck <ok>

Got an email this afternoon about 2 from my gg.com list

Catterick 2.20 - Juana Belen - Looked very promising on debut when only beaten a neck over C&D, only got going very late on. This a much tougher task but should come on from that run.

Catterick 5.20 - Mad for Fun - ROTO (I think) put this up last time, I think it was a NR, given some easy handling lto, I'm not sure what its chances are today?

FITZ FLYER - (Ripon, 19:35) 8/1

Not been with David Nicholls that long and shaped quite well in couple of big-field handicaps at Ascot and Goodwood in last 9 days. Well drawn and got to be high on the shortlist here.

THE NOBLE ORD - (Bath, 15:00) 5/1

Winner of 6f Salisbury maiden in August and improved fourth of 14 in 1m handicap at Windsor recently, doing well given he was hampered at a crucial stage. Tongue tie now on for the first time.

JOB DONE!!

Yeah I very much fancied him LTO and I think he was a huge non trier. Struggling to think why he'll be trying today off the same mark barring the fact he's at the same track as he was 2 starts back when losing out by a short head. I'll have a look again tonight and I'll make my assessment.

Idyllic Star 9/1

Although a maiden after 6 starts and she's facing in form rivals, I certainly think Idyllic Star could go very close to landing this. Based on her maiden efforts and her last 2 starts in handicap, I definitely think she's weighted to score off a mark like this and I think the key today will be this step up in trip. Her last 2 starts have come over 10f where she has run well (once rather unlucky) but I think the extra 3f today will bring out more improvement. She was was well supported on her last start but could only get going to late but it was still a decent enough effort and she's been dropped a further 1lb to a mark of 66. Martin Harley takes the ride on Stan Moore's 3 year old filly and he's a rather interesting booking given it will only be his 2nd start for the yard. Although only 6 go to post and only 2 places to play for, I actually think the small field will suit and should prevent her from getting too far behind. Although this is definitely a better race than her last two, I certainly think she has scope for considerable improvement now upped in trip and I expect a bold showing that should hopefully see her land this event.

Morning, all. Am waving the ‘no bet’ banner today as nothing particularly appeals to this correspondent. The humorous part of today’s racing though must be the name of one of the apprentices in the ‘lucky last’ across the county line at Bath. He’s called R Tart. Cor blimey, I bet school was an ordeal for that chap with a moniker like that. I’m sure though that the knowledgeable Bath crowd won’t josh him that much!

Meanwhile, the 7.35 at Ripon is a corking contest and almost like a mini Stewards Cup. OK, so its not over 6 furlongs or at Goodwood but I’m sure you follow my line of thought. Quite literally anything could win it though and it looks a heat to savour and watch rather than punt in.

Finally, Mr Henderson, the forum’s favourite trainer, has dispatched quite a few to today’s ‘horses in training’ sale up at Doncaster. Obviously, he’s making room for the new intake of future stars who will have the privilege of being tutored by his magic hands.

Good luck though if you do wager today.

Cor blimey talking of Mr Henderson’s new intake I see that Paddy Power are making him just 1/3 to win the trainer’s title this term. Anyone tempted?!?

Morning all,

Going for a Johnston and opening card double today amongst others.

2.00 Bath Tregereth - who was beaten by Dream Maker last week who then bolted up on Sunday
2.30 Bath Waspy - Agree with Bucks
4.00 Bath Crimsen Queen - On a hat trick and both wins over C/D
2.20 Catt Excellent Mariner - In form with two good runs, today should be third time lucky
3.40 Wolv Courtesy Call - Another in form Johnston horse who only has Bridgehampton to beat

Few others of interest today so if any of these win then i may have a play later. Good luck all.

I have a beleif that the UK stewards are the exact opposite of the french in as much as you need slaughter the other jockey with a gun to lose a race in the UK, but if that horse keeps this race we may as well all go home. It was virtually taken out and yet still ran on to close with every stride. This stuff about whip in which hand only relates to Jockey culpability and despite where his whip was the winner took out the other horse.

Completely agree with you in regards to the Stewards don't change it enough. I think that whole "the jockey did everything he could to prevent it" scenario is bullshit. Fair enough, the jockey isn't culpable but it still prevented the other horse from winning! At least they saw sense with this particularly enquiry

Hughes rode a nice race, won by the minimum she could have another race in her next time. ;)
