Up early doors for MOUNT ATHOS in the Melbourne Cup and then later on we have a smashing card from Exeter. Will AP make it 4000. Personally I hope he waits till Wednesday and lets me witness this true feat at first hand! Cracking novice hurdle at 1.50. BILLY NO NAME has some very good form in the book already and FLEMENSON is one in my tracker for the season and has already impressed but I have been told that JUNCTION FOURTEEN 12-1 on Betfair is held in very high regard by the yard. He will need to be exceptional to take the first two down but I know they rate him highly!
All about Williams Wishes for me tomorrow - injury prone and difficult to train but boy when he hits the track he is a sight to behold and he can beat Cue Card at the weights tomorrow. Big bet at 4/1.
Have to take you on oddy! All about Cue Card tomorrow, even with the weight he has to give to the field. His win at ascot and the festival will be too much for this lot, He can show his true G1 form tomorrow- He goes best fresh and has won his first race 2 seasons on the trot. He will be very hard to beat. Got him at 11/8 too
Im on Williams Wishes aswell. He held a few tasty entries last season before his entry and looks certain to be at least minimum grade 2 quality.
Am going for the French Horse down under- having a great season, trainer put american to win the race a few years ago. Is in the form of her career, won at longchamp and then beating Joshua Tree @ deauville.
Just to add to my earlier post i think Cue card is probably the second best horse around at 2 and a half miles(behind the black aeroplane) however at 17f iv got to be having Williams Wishes.
Cue Card will be very hard to beat. EDIT: Had incorrectly assumed this race was 2m 5f, but it's actually 2m 2f. Cue Card should still win but its a 'no bet' race for me as Williams Wishes has looked a very progressive sort around 19f.
What has William's wishes done that's getting you so excited? Royal Native is interesting in the 4.20 at 7/1 each way.
I think Williams Wishes is the each way bet at 4/1 in the Haldon Gold Cup . Giving away 17lb+ to the field off a mark of 172, its going to take a mammoth performance by Cue Card to win this and given that Williams Wishes is 5-5 over fences and his improvement hasn't look like stopping you've got to think he'll run a fair few lbs above his mark of 153 and if he does Cue Card may need to run to a mark of 178 or so to come out victorious. Denman won a Hennessy off 174 conceding buckets of weight so it can be done but he was a tank of horse and for all that Cue Card is extremely talented he doesn't have the same frame as him. I do rate Cue Card quite a lot and if he can win this giving weight all then it going to be an absolutely massive performance from him and I think Williams Wishes each way is the best bet of the race.
William's Wishes for me also - and to answer Bob's question - not much but has bags of potential I guess, and everyone loves a trier! I'm obviously hoping that tomorrow he IS a trier
Won 5 on the bounce Bob but always looked like he was in 2nd gear - looks to have loads more to offer, I guess it is the constant waiting for him to run again which heightens the excitement. Whenever I've seen him run he has really excited me. I'd actually fancy him off level weights against Cue Card but in receipt of 19lbs he has a tremendous chance tomorrow. Of course it's all about potential vs. proven form but I've always thought a lot of him and it would be nice to see him put in a headline performance tomorrow.
Will hopefully wake early to catch the Melbourne Cup. My 2 against the field are Brown Panther at 16s and Super Cool at 50s, both ew. At Exeter in the Haldon Cup I reckon Cue Card has it all to do giving lumps of weight away. Module 5s ran some decent races last year including the Jewson at Chelts. Still open to some improvement and receiving 20lb of the favourite I'll risk a few quid on him. In the lucky last a little ew on Mulholland's Barton Jubilee @ 14s. A first attempt in open handicap company following an improved showing lto, up in trip, Feehily on board all positives.
Just looking at the opener at Exeter tomorrow and came across Cool George - anyone remember his bumper debut a couple of years ago where he sluiced up? I mean he absolutely ****ing bolted up on the bit, 2nd was a decent Warren Greatrex horse, Umadachar, and 3rd a newcomer from the Pipe yard, Unex Degas. Most impressive bumper winner I think I've ever seen. Cool George was subsequently touted at all sorts of fancy prices for the champion bumper and did in fact manage to line up on the day but lost his action 3 out and was pulled up. Hard to know whether he ever really recovered from that but he was thrashed out of site in 2 subsequent novice hurdle races, and I wouldn't give him much of a chance tomorrow. Wish I could find a replay of that bumper win though, he looked like Champion the ****ing wonder horse.
I remember it well Oddy and meant to include him in my write up. Not going to back him but I'd love to see him show that bumper debut was no fluke. He ran well for a long way in the festival bumper too before being pulled up as you said. Ran like and absolute hound last year though.
Masked Marvel ew at 33 and Dandino at 9's Noy staying up though - record and watch at a more leisurely hour
They have a vote on the Racing Post website about McCoy's best ride and Wichita Lineman is winning it hands down. The ride Paul Carberry gave Bellvano was 10 times better though
