PELICAN PIE 14/1 Southwell 5:15
The presence of a probably over rated and under priced Henderson makes me want to have a bet in this heat and Pelican Pie catches the eye from a yard very much in form. They recently had a mare winning a bumper under a penalty so will have a good yardstick with which to measure this ones ability.
Only a second foal and the first one to race out of a winning but very lightly raced mare. Could be anything or could be nothing but at the odds it looks worth a little ew.

As I’ve said before racehorse ownership can be brutal, heartbreaking and financially crippling. Not every time is it a case of drinking celebratory GnT’s in the ‘Owners and Trainers’ Bar with The Lieutenant, curtseying to Princess Camilla on the ‘victory plinth’ and exchanging witty repartee with Francesca in the ‘Winners Enclosure’.

Backed Arcadienne and Thunder And Light separately to place in the 8:10 and laid the front two in the market to place too. Think it’s more competitive than the market suggests and can do so very cheaply for a good reward.

Forecast for Gosden but nowhere near as easy as the market made out. That Fly Lightly looks a decent horse for the all weather.
