Happy New Year everyone. How about a McCain/Hughes double to get things rolling up at Musselburgh today? 13.30 Golden Investment 14.00 Stone Quercus Good Luck All.
Brian Hughes looks like he has some decent chances across the card at Mussleburgh. Lazy bet, doubles/trebles. Happy new year all and good luck if wagering today.
Cabragh in the first chase at Bangor, trip will suit and very well handicapped. Poyle Vinnie in the last at Newcastle, hopefully get more cover and hit the front later. Two singles and a double
I'll throw one in at a nice price: 3.50 Bangor Born Naughty (splendid name for any kind of horse whatsoever, be it a filly, colt, mare, gelding or entire) 14/1 Born Naughty's sire Notnowcato (one of a long line of handicappers turned into Group 1 winners by Sir Michael Stoute) has already got some nice NH progeny including Long Dog and Old Guard. The dam, Tremiere, had 3 foals between 2004-6 (mainly flat all-weather runners including Green Onions) and then nothing until Born Naughty came along in 2012. Trainer Jamie Snowden is 0 from 11 in bumpers this season, which is well below his normal strike rate so I think he could be due one. The fact that Richard Johnson hangs around to take the ride is eye-catching.
The jockey booking caught my eye too. They paid a lot of money for this one €43,000 after it originally went through the ring as a foal for 1K so it must have improved as a specimen. Has a nice flat pedigree with five winners ranging in trip from 5f to 14f. The best of them was probably Canongate who won on the level. Snowdens bumper record this season is dire though and my preference in the race is for JUST A STING who is a half brother to winning bumper horse The Geegeez Geegee.
Speaking of the lovely Rebecca Curtis it looks like the partnership of Johnathan Moore riding for her on a full time basis is over. One would speculate that it was the presence of the word 'for' broke the deal...
Graham Lee heads up to ride Hatabb in the last at Mussy.Yard rarely send one up there from Suffolk and has a decent pedigree to suggest he can take this class 6 donkey fest. 3/1 win.
