Two 10lb claimers in the opening conditionals hurdle at Carlisle - Benjamin Macey on Jonjo's Keppel Queen (in the old "Golden Freeze" silks of the Hitchin family) and Leah Noreci on Jelski for James Moffat. I think Keppel Queen ran into one on her handicap debut and she should be on the premises today. Young Benjamin has ridden 4 winners this year and can make it number 5 on Keppel Queen. Leah looks to have her work cut out on Jelski despite dropping to his lowest ever mark of 97. She rode him last time at Hexham off 100 and he just never got involved - seems to have fallen out of love with the game, which can happen to a 10 year old. Jonjo can double up with Monty Bodkin in the 13.03. He really knuckled down to win his bumper at Doncaster when with Ben Pauling and should have a bright future over hurdles. The Novices Handicap Chase at 12.30 is a really nice example of how these races can attract a good, competitive field and should be worth watching with the notebook out.
14:15 Lingfield - Classy Clarets e/w Class-5 Handicap over 6f on the Polytrack surface. Bottom weight and only 3YO in the race, this Cota Glory gelding was well-backed at Kempton LTO 13-days ago, again on Polytrack. Has decent chance to gain a podium finish, at least. Richard Kingscote rides for the Richard Fahey yard. 9/1 (Coral/Ladbrokes) best price early-doors, on the ATR site.
