I'm at Amanda's all night (with internet) as my youngest grandson had to be taken to hospital and is staying in. Following an initial blood test, more had to be taken and then he had to have a lumbar puncture for suspected meningitis. It's been a worrying evening but have just heard that he is clear of meningitis but is receiving treatment overnight. Poor little sod is very poorly but there was a big sigh of relief (to put it mildly) when the result came through. Amanda and her husband are staying overnight with him, hence why I am here Have a good day bookie bashing folks
Today at Doncaster in the 2.10 runs Senior Citizen. Maybe its interesting to know for you what Alan King said about this gelding in his stable tour in november: "He’s been schooling away nicely over fences for some time and as he’s a big, strong sort I’ve been looking forward to getting him started in a 2m4f novice handicap chase. However, he’s just on the back-burner at present having scoped badly a couple of weeks ago."
Sorry to hear your grandson isn't well Ron. Must have been quite scary thinking it was Meningitis. Hope he's feeling better soon
Best wishes to them all Ron , I had to go through that with my son 17/18 years ago. I actually watched him have the lumber and it was awful ( it still haunts me to this day ) . I hope Amanda didn't watch for here sake but I know being a parent she probably did so be extra nice to her .
Fairyhouse 1.15 Witness Of Fashion 4-times course winner on a good mark today. Acts on heavy. Seldom runs a bad race (32% each way strike rate). Should be in the mix with the low wight surely an advantage in these testing conditions.
I was on The Bola Bee when losing out narrowly against The Great Tempo last time. It will be interesting to see if she can go one better today. At bigger odds I wouldn't be surprised if Quasha runs a sound race. Has hinted a bit of promise in 2 runs this season and handicap mark gives her a chance.
Doncaster racecourse must be the course on the greatest decline in recent years. Seems to be going downhill faster than a Russian bobsleigh team.

Not so reassuring as first thought. It takes 5 days to confirm meningitis isn't present. Meanwhile he is being treated for meningitis as a precaution. The good news is that the lumbar puncture confirmed that meningitis had not set in (ie is not advanced)
