I'll be watching looking with interest how we fare against a better side than Huddersfield.
    I'm hopeful.
So far, and it's very early in the LM era, I can see progress in our organisation at least.

We desperately need 2 players in January.........a keeper and striker.

I agree, that's why I said we need a striker.
I think we have decent midfielders in Knight James TGH Williams. Across the back we're ok when all are fit.
To win matches you need a good keeper......we have a liability.

Across the back we’re ok? Are you forgetting a certain person RP?

BTW I agree we need a big centre forward. We are powder puff up front and can’t expect to dance goals in every week.
Also agree about a GK. I don’t think Max is that bad, but he needs competition - and backup.

    Morning R&W

    No - I haven't forgotten Franz.
He's not as good as he thinks he is.....he needs to keep things simple and concentrate more......but Franz, Dickie and A N Other could be a decent 3. If in a 2 though he may struggle to get selected, if for nothing else to have a left footer and right footer in those 2 positions.

Max doesn't need competition he needs, amongst other attributes, is to grow some. He is definitely not the bravest, has poor distribution and doesn't command the box. I struggle to find anything he's good at.
A keeper is part of the spine....and a strong spine is essential in a successful side...... he most certainly doesn't belong in there.

    OUR OPPONENTS: BLACKBURN ROVERS
Blackburn Rovers have had a slow start to the busy festive period, suffering back-to-back defeats against Leeds United and Sheffield Wednesday in their most recent fixtures.

Rovers earned victories against Norwich, Stoke and Birmingham City in November and will be aiming to get back to winning ways against the Robins.

Currently 11th in the table and two points ahead of City, this mid-week contest is bound to be a competitive test for both sides as they search for three points.

    Formed: 1875
    Stadium: Ewood Park
    Nickname: Rovers
    Manager: Jon Dahl Tomasson
    Finish last season: 18th

    ONE TO WATCH: SAMMIE SZMODICS
Former City player Szmodics is a product of the Colchester United Academy and made more than 140 appearances for the U’s.

Excluding a short loan period at Braintree Town, the attacking midfielder had a very successful senior career at Colchester being named Young Player of the Year in May 2015
and Golden Boot winner for two consecutive seasons between 2017-19.

In June 2019 the Irishman signed for Bristol City, making four appearances for the Robins before signing for Peterborough United after a successful loan spell with them.
Szmodics made over 70 appearances for The Posh and scored 21 goals in all competitions, helping them secure automatic promotion to the Championship.

On August 1st 2022 Sammie Szmodics signed a three year deal for Blackburn Rovers and the high energy midfielder is making some noise this season.

Szmodics has scored 14 goals and notched two assists in 21 appearances this season.
He has scored some crucial goals, including a brace against Rotherham early in the season to secure a point, a brace against Millwall to secure all three points and goals against Norwich, Stoke and Birmingham City.

This is one of our toughest fixtures and based on what I saw away at Huddersfield I don't give us much of a chance. There hasn't been enough of a change in the way we play and I'm not sure whether that is down to Liam's system not quite working yet or is it that it will never work with this bunch of players? We look weak in just about every position but there must be some hidden gems waiting for the right partnerships to be formed to show us their full capabilities. In all honesty I still believe we are a team in disarray, caused by ownership issues and the supposed lack of funds to help make us better, and things will probably never change by looking only at the bargain basement and rarely bringing in players that are better than we currently have. Today could be a disaster given our defensive frailties but you never know what we are going to produce on any given day. Will be watching the game on Robins TV and hope for the best.

Poor defending has cost us a goal again. Naismith on commentary duties is summing up our weaknesses very eloquently as he says we are not brave enough and the constant long balls from Max are a waste of effort as we lose possession on just about every one of those kicks. Just now we were on the edge of their penalty area and four passes later we are back just outside of ours and it makes me ask where are we going so wrong? Is it poor choices or lack of effort to make us go forward that make us play like this on a constant and consistent basis? Same old complaints and the same old City.

The midfield just let him go, and he split Zak and Dickie. A good first touch though, real quality and gave Max no chance

If we lose this one and again on Saturday that will be just one win in 7 games since LM took over

We are a team lacking any thoughts as to how we can improve our play and we also look disinterested because I see a lot of criticizing of team mates which is never good at any time. The football is boring to watch and yet it is so consistently dreadful that it makes me wonder if the possibility of us ever upping our ante by hiring someone who knows how the game should be played? Naismith has hit the nail on the head with his every comment during the first half and his biggest complaint is that we lack bravery and good decision making and overall I wonder why we continue this dross year in and year out? Sammie Szmodics looks more like a striker than all of our lot put together and when you consider how we let him slip through our hands many years ago it just sums up all you need to know about what Bristol City are and will be for eons.

We have given away the second goal to Blackburn from a header and I did not see a single one of our defenders actually leave the ground to try and clear the ball - shocking. Naismith gets more ticked off at our play by the second and he's right on with his criticism and I don't think his words will sit well with Liam.

Conway just missed a very good chance and that sums up our play.
