Thomas in talks with the FA, he wouldn’t be the worse appointment although I’m not sure who else wants it. I don’t think there’s a stand out English candidate.
Goodness knows what my Grandad would have made of not only a German City manager but a German England manager too
I have always said, I don’t like foreign managers in charge of England, even if we win something, it’ll feel tainted & the England haters will be out screaming that Germany have won it & not England. I liked Southgate, his football was frustrating, I haven’t seen Carsley’s England, but sounds similar to GS. I don’t know what the answer is, because none of the top teams have an English manager, similar situation to the goalkeeper. Howe is probably the top English manager, but after that, I can’t even think, is it Dyche? Although I enjoyed some of the games under Sven, it never really clicked. Under Capello it was awful, from memory anyway. I’m not sure if I could have the same excitement if a foreign manager comes in.
I like a joke, but frig a pantomime. I don't give a toss who the next manager is if we win a trophy. The views expressed in my posts are not necessarily mine.
Most major footballing nations do not have, and have rarely had, foreign managers. Also, only one foreign manager has ever won the Euros or World Cup with a European nation, and that was Otto Rehhagel with Greece in 2004. It's simply not the done thing. We should also remember that we have a lot of enemies, both within and beyond football. Alex Ferguson may have been an honorary Mancunian and a proud Unionist and monarchist, but he still admitted to being tempted to take the England managerial position just so he could run us into the ground. Germans, Frenchmen, Scots, etc should all be forgotten about.
You heard it here first ...Jean Michel McTavish is likely to be the next England manager. Only speaks FrancoScotsGaelic so an interpreter will be needed at all times. Can't wait.
