Its difficult with takeover gone to feel positive. And despite the club statement it is gone. They stata they are still looking for investment, but we all know that's not going to happen. What's the likelihood of an investor stumping up several millions for a minority share leaving Bates in charge. Answer nil. Wasn't many positives at start of last season but this is worse. Only shining light is the making of a new squad that may prove me wrong and finish top six. If Warnock gets a promotion from this fiasco, it'll be his greatest ever achievement
Although I think Warnock is a great manager at this level, he isn't a god. Yes he is going for an 8th promotion but that still leaves 20+ seasons where he has managed a team and not got them promoted. He has said himself he hasn't got any depth to the team and now the pot is empty when it comes to needing the icing on the cake players. Until Bates is gone it will be season after season of frustration for Leeds fans.
If Im totally honest, I think the same. I suppose just clutching at straws that we might make top six but like last year, think this will be a short season
The club statement saying talks are still ongoing is a mix between trying to sell season tickets and maybe Bates get out clause that if we start the season and take 1 point from 3-4 games and get knocked out the cup by Shrewsbury he can back down and sell. It pains me to say it but maybe 3-4 defeats at the start of the season would be better for our long term future. If we got off to a 3-4 game winning streak Bates is here for the distance.
7 promotions is better than anyone else as far as I am aware. What we should also remember & try to take positives from is that THIS takeover may have hit the buffers (its not entirely dead in the water yet), but that's not to say some other group could put in a bid. Yes, my cup is always half full, rather than half empty, & you never know what's round the next corner. That said, we lose or play poorly tomorrow & then get seriously stuffed by Wolves next Saturday, & the brown stuff really will hit the wirly wheel with the mood music at ER taking a potentially nasty turn for the worse.
Don't get me wrong Boggers - I am glad that we have Warnock in charge but we witnessed what his managerial skills are like when he hasn't got the squad he requires on the pitch towards the end of last season. I don't believe the team that turns out on Saturday will be anywhere near what Warnock was hoping for 2 months back, he has been allowed to assemble the foundations and then it has come to a grinding hault. He obviously isn't happy with what he has to work with and I do wonder if a couple of defeats is what we need to unite fans together in one massive unit all agreeing that we need Bates out NOW. Three to four wins (which I doubt anyway) and many fans will forget about Bates and see it that we have an all conquering team ignoring the papered over cracks.
I am very positive that Bates will be gone this season as long as fans stop lining his pockets Rock up at ER and he stays because his only reason for staying is financial And while he stays our only future is standing still or relegation The answer is simple but some think about it too much and aren't prepared to forego short term pleasure for the long term benefit of the club
I like the bit about short term pleasures. Hasnt been much of that to be had at Elland Road in a while
