Having lost his place in the Birmingham City side, on-loan Newcastle midfielder Shane Ferguson has been turning out at U21 level for the Blues in recent weeks - and found the net on Monday afternoon.

The 22 year-old Northern Ireland international played all 90 minutes of a 4-0 win over Barnsley at Birmingham's training ground, claiming an assist and scoring the final goal from close range.

Speaking of Birmingham, Monday brought reports from the West Midlands that both Terry McDermott and Derek Fazackerley had left their posts on Lee Clark's backroom staff. No reason has yet been given.

Seems a bit odd for Clarkie to give the boot to two old acquaintances.

I heard that he's promoted his old pal Steve Watson to help him

 

Haven't heard that, haven't heard anything about Stevie for ages if it comes to that.

 

I read that he was in charge of their (Brum) development squad or under 18's - something like that

 

Wonder if he's teaching them the long throw in technique.

 

I doubt he can still do the somersault though
