According to the club's facebook feed, the development squad are beating Newcastle 5-0 this afternoon, and Trotta has a hat-trick. Alex Smith and Kasami got the others. Whether this makes him more likely (form and morale) or less likely (the fact that he's playing in this game at all) to feature against Bolton remains to be seen.
I think the fact that he has performed well will encourage Jol to involve him at some point during the game, probably as a substitute. Judging by his spell at Wycombe I think Trotta could be one of those strikers who feeds on confidence. A hat-trick can only help that. Hopefully he will get a game sooner rather than later.
Here's the Club blurb - http://www.fulhamfc.com/Club/News/NewsArticles/2012/April/Reserves5-0Newcastle.aspx Strong team selection. Riise the younger appears to have had a new lease of life over the last games. I spoke with Mr Jol this morning (how's that for name dropping) and he reckons the Pog is 50/50 for the Bolton game but when pushed about Trotta he said "let's wait and see". [It was at the 'Open Day' this morning when Jol was at his avuncular best and quite happy to chat to fans]
Like the name-drop C58! Thanks for the Pog update. Any sign of Davies training? I would've liked to have gone but work travels precluded a couple of hours off.
I think Davies was actually playing for the reserves. Apart from the Pog, the most obvious absentee from the 'training' session was AJ. All the other worthies were there; including Sa (I didn't think at the time to ask Mr Jol why he thought he had said he only had two No. 9s ie Pog and Trotta). Also included in this squad session was another young forward Corey Gameiro - I know it was only a kick about to amuse the fans but he was quite impressive.
Cory Gamero, was someone I was quite enthusiastic about when watching him a couple of seasons ago when in the Academy. He somewhat went off the radar, glad to hear he is still with us and turning in a mentionable performance It would be nice if our youth side could produce in the future caliber players the likes of Haynes,Cohen, Mullery Macedo, Robson Jezzard etc: Having watched my first game in 58/59 these were my young idols.
I think most of us would give anything for Fulham to produce another Haynes, although the chance of such a player staying with us for long would not be great sadly...
He wasn't home grown, but let's not forget Barry Hayles (as commemorated on Surly's pic) - he was just one consonant away from being the next Haynes. That's as close as we've come so far.
The young man has now been called up for the Italy U20s. Good on him. http://www.fulhamfc.com/Club/News/NewsArticles/2012/April/TrottaCallUp.aspx#ixzz1rpsaAvAv
