Twice with a sparrowhawk, (but mostly blackbirds and smaller birds) colliding with my windows. Some survive, but I'm sure become easy prey for whatever is around. Any ideas on preventing this? Kids get upset.
This is a surprisingly common problem and there's no easy solution. Some people try a picture of a bird on each window persuades birds to not fly into them. Mixed results as far as I know. Basically anything that changes the perception that there's nothing there.
