A galaxy far, far away
Hi all, bit of a random question.

Currently studying defamation law as part of a tort module for my degree.

One of the cases is called Fulham v Associated Newspapers. It's from 1955-1956.

Basically, a newspaper said that this player never used his right foot for more than balancing on. Pretty funny right? This player was successful in taking an action for defamation - the newspaper had imputed a lack of competence in his professional ability, and he was able to show 'special damage' (as your feet are obviously important as a footballer).

I can't seem to find any background information online... any older fans, or indeed anyone, remember/know anything about this? Pretty bizarre/curious at any rate.

<cheers>
