We've made it to the end of September within touching distance of the leaders. The only upcoming fixture against top 6 opposition coming up is Brentford. Team is maybe gelling a little. Good times ahead ?
Agreed. Our so called 'hard spell' has been quite decent for us and we are a win off the top. Things are looking up.
Will wait and see, we have a history of throwing games away against unlikely opposition. But logically it should be up up up from here.
This^^ and even more This We'd beat barca then lose to the Dog and Duck 2nd XI the following week ..its a long standing NUFC tradition
No doubt about that. Haven't forgotten Wolves 1 and am sure we will drop points against bafflingly poor sides. I just expect the next 10 games to be better than the first 10 games.
After 9 games last season in the champ we'd W7 D1 L1, that became W7 D3 L3 after 13 games, before we went on a mad run of wins. If we can better the 24 points we had after 13 games last time, we're in a good place. And yes Wolves, when a player's not performing like Mbemba did against Wolves get them off while there's still time to change things, like Rafa did when he hauled off Diame and Colback last night whole there was still time for the game to be saved.
We are not there yet but if Rafa can tweak it (Tiote, Lazaar and Mitrovic in for Hayden, Dummett and Diame) then I think we will click. It's just taking time for us to work out a set pattern of play. The players have kept us in touch. We now need a bit of coherence and consistency
We said at the start that if we can be in touching distance at the end of September then we'd be in a great position. We shouldn't forget the nature of the championship though. For a long time now it has been a league where bottom sides beat top sides. Look at some of the games that Burnley, Middlesbrough and Hull lost last year. It would be arrogant to think we will be any different. We've put ourselves in a great position, but teams like Rotherham have every right to beat us just as much as Norwich, Villa and Brighton.
Also (and with LiamO's wise words not disregarded) we have bossed large parts of the games where we've dropped points. Villa is a prime example. We know how to play well. We just need to figure out how to stop playing gash.
This. Too many cooks spoil the broth!!! A miss is as good as a mile!!! A wolf in sheep's clothing!!! and all that...
