I know most of you will be quite aware of the beautiful mural adorning The Blue House Pub in Raich Carters's birthplace Hendon in Sunderland but I'd like to post this for the many ex-pats all over the world who may not know about it. I believe that Raich is the only football player to win a FA Cup Medal either side of World War 2 with Sunderland (before) and Derby County (afterwards). I'm not sure but I believe he could have been Captain of both teams. Wonderful gesture and remarkable attraction: please log in to view this image
He does look a bit weird there, must have been copied from this photo then coloured it in please log in to view this image
The face is a little bit long for Raich, but it's certainly his features and hair-style. it's fitting I think. Charles Buchan was from the S.E., Len Shackleton was from Yorkshire, many of the Team of All the Talents (1890s) were Scots, etc. But Raich was our own.
