Virgin Trains warn that - due to planned work on the line - there will be no trains from London to Liverpool and Manchester after FA Cup semi-final on Saturday, 23 April between Everton and Manchester United.

.... M6 Service stations full of hitch hiking scousers ... Arbellio Greater Anglia Trains running fine so Man United fans not likely to be as inconvenienced ...

UTD fans live in London, so it matters not.

Everton fans live in London as well

But the trains to Surrey are ok, so the red half are unaffected.

Biggest ground in the NW, I think, apart from theirs so makes sense to me. Everton still get half the gate so what difference if it's Manchester, Sheffield or Leeds etc.? Still think it takes something away from the final to have the semis there.

 

For this game you couldn't use the Etihad, so it'd be Villa park, which would still mean travel and it's half the capacity of Wembley.

I think the view about not using Wembley is outdated traditionalism

 

Why couldn't you use the Etihad? Why would it therefore be Villa Park? Just play it on the day City aren't playing.

I'm not sure you'd have that view if Everton were regularly making finals.

You're right. It has to be a neutral ground or city. In this case, Wembley is the right venue.

 

So both clubs need to travel from the North West down to Londonistan to play the semi when they could have played nearer to home.

I can't for the life of me see what is wrong with the Etihad. Full of Everton and Utd supporters it would be fine.
