QPR latest: Traore rejected Champions League club, Caulker reveals key to Sunderland win

The latest Queens Park Rangers transfer news, views and rumours.

    Armand Traore

QPR's Armand Traore has reiterated that he could have left the west London side for Benfica.

The 24-year-old says the Champions League club made him the offer to leave the Rs in the past amid speculation that he could have gone to Crystal Palace this August.

But the Frenchman says he is fully committed to Harry Redknapp's side.

“I think there was a misunderstanding - I spoke with Phil [Beard]. I didn’t sign a contract to move on," Traore is quoted as saying by London24.

“I have been here for four years now and I’ve said before that I could have left here to join a Champions League club in Benfica but I have always stayed.

“I grafted in the Championship and I’m not going to leave now after I signed a new contract.

“I love England, I think after my career is over I will stay here. I was 15 when I came to London – I am still north but literally in two weeks I am moving to west London. I think it is time."

    Steven Caulker

Meanwhile, centre-back Steven Caulker says Redknapp's decision to move away from a 3-5-2 formation was the key to QPR's first Premier League win of the season against Sunderland.

“We played a different formation last week [against Spurs], it was one we never quite got to grips with. The manager made the decision to change that and, fortunately, it paid off," Caulker is quoted as saying by the Brent and Kilburn Times.

“A few of the boys have a good relationship with the manager. I’m not sure what was said but the gaffer’s said he’s going to change it. He’s the man who made the decisions and we go by it.

“We were more solid with four at the back."

I like this. He plays with passion - this quote implies that he play for the badge - a bit like Clint Hill. I hope he grows and becomes a great with us. Remember his run at City away.... In an age where we are so cynical about professional players chasing $$ - can we take a min to be positive on this.

Unless of course he stayed because the two Clubs after him wouldn't pay him as much

He's poor in the position that is supposedly his, LB, but when he comes forward and plays LM he's a different character and probably the best crosser of the ball. But with the formation we now play I can't see him getting many chances, but good to have him in the squad.
