I suppose your point of view depends on what you expected. If you thought that it meant we were going to be in the top 6 this year then you will be bitterly disappointed. I thought it meant changing our style of play from ultra defensive under Smith and Wagner to a more attacking style and also changing our squad to comprise more younger and fitter players still learning the game. This season and next would concentrate on the composition of the squad and starting to sort out a system, the players within that system and stopping the mistakes inevitably prevalent with young inexperienced players. By the season after that I would hope to see us challenging for top 6. To me it was a reasonably long term project which I accept will not satisfy the ' must happen tomorrow ' supporters.
Progress? The squad and coaching staff are certainly younger and the attacking side of the game has improved as judged by the fact that only Leeds have scored more goals than us. Several aspects however have been disappointing. We have not been helped by injuries to some of the younger players in the squad but - and it is a big but - why have several of them looked promising to start with only to fall away? Cordoba.
I stop there as I have just received the news. Absolutely ridiculous!! The new Head Coach will be our 5th in little over 3 years. More importantly JHT and his staff will be the 4th paying off of contracts coming out of the playing budget. What was it supposed to be? A transition of the Club over 2 or 3 seasons!! Suddenly the Head Coach goes after less than one season. Absolutely bloody ridiculous but a continuation of the bungling of sacking Farke and appointing Smith and then Wagner.
