With Gyan having left us on Saturday (10 days after the end of our transfer window), it'd be interesting to see what a transfer windows closure actually means.

The way I see it, a transfer windows closure means that you can no longer sign players.

However, as materialised with Gyan and Fenerbahce (apologies as spelling of Turkish places isn't top of my agenda) - the TURKISH transfer window closes after the UK transfer window, which means we could still sell him to them - could we still sign someone from them? I don't know

As Quinn has stated regarding Gyans' transfer, they have 50 days remaining in their transfer window, with the amount of money over there, could, for all intents and purposes, clubs in this country basically sign all of Sunderlands' players which would leave Sunderland with no means to replenish the squad? Or can we still sign players as long as we sign from a country who's transfer window is still open?

If the bolded statement above is actually true, why is there a transfer window at all?

I don't understand why one country's window closes at one time and another closes at a different time - FIFA (yeah right) need to take control and ensure they all finish at the same time

Window closing means you can't bring IN, you can sell to a country still 'open'.

Fenerbache is in Istanbul, Turkey, BTW ;)

I found this baffling as well mate if they can sign from a country whose window is shut why can't we sign from a country whose window is still open, could be the money again or maybe I'm just being cynical again.

With FIFA moving the goal posts to suit different leagues in different countrys, can only be about dosh, plain and simple.
