Getting ****ed off with this window, one striker to see us over the line. 8m on Rhodes would be money well spent
If he gets the goals that get us back to the Prem and the financial reward of getting there, then his fee is like a drop in the Ocean regardless of how he performs when we get there. Although I personally believe that he will score goals regardless of what level he plays at. When you consider the money spent in recent years on the players we have done like Bosingwa, Cesar, SWP, Granero, Samba, M'Bia etc this is a no brainer when you put it into context.
I dont see the benefit of Harry saying he is too expensive, he has 3 1/2 years left on his current contract and Blackburn dont need to sell him. If he is the missing piece lets get on and buy him! Luke Young Jermaine Jenas Gary O'Neil SWP Andy Johnson Bobby Zamora All above players are out of contract June 2014......so what is the issue? TF in too deep??
I think this time we are just being sensible. Blackburn announced huge loses since the Chicken wings took over, unlike us it looks like they will definitely be stuck in the championship again next season, so I would argue they are probably pretty desperate to get rid of him. Every club in the country knows that we've been rather quick in the past few transfer windows to offer over the odds for some players and will hold out for top dollar. If we are to sign Rhodes, and he is probably the best known striker we could go for, then it will be around 11pm on the 31st when both clubs are desperate.
Read a statistic somewhere that something like 90% of transfer activity takes place on the last day of the window, and it's only the 23rd today (player we've been linked with, that is).....
I can still see Rhodes coming our way with Hoilett making the journey in the opposite direction with a suitcase full of used notes.
We are missing back up/partner for Charlie.........a playmaker (unless Kranjcar can improve a lot) and a good defensive midfielder, although that last one we can probably do without as long as we address the other two imo.
Selling part want as much as they can, the buyer want it for as less as possible. It will go down to the wire if we're after any of the big guns. I prefer we go about our business this way rather than throwing money about like in previous windows. Quality, age, value, difficult to get all three. Patience lads.
I'm hoping to god we don't go down to the wire, I really can't stand the last day of the transfer window, except taking the piss out of Stoke fans!
